If you book to stay at the District then do not expect a 5-star room. If all you need is a bed, a bath, and a base from which to explore DC ,then you will not be disappointed. It is clean, but our room (301) was small and in need of decoration. An old electric socket in the wall of... more

Basic hotel located in a beautifull residential neighbourhood. The hotel was partially renovated, but still needs some work. Our room ($119 a night for a queen room) was large and clean, but felt dated and somewhat shabby. This is an old building after all, so it’s part of the charm. Heaters were left out of the room and bathroom renovations,... more

i stayed there for 2 nights a couple of years ago. i got up early the first morning and went off sight seeing. when i came back, my remaining spending money, jewellry and credit card had been stolen. there was no sign of forced entry. earlier, before i had left, i had put a sign on my door saying no... more

Slum quality hotel. Needs cleaning & renovating. Heat and internet service erratic/. I arrived during a snow storm -- the steps were very icy and dangerous -- nobody had come out to put down sand or salt. The description in the brochure "newly renovated historic boutique hotel" bears no resemblance to the reality. more

My friends and I really enjoyed ourselves at the District. The friendly staff, close proximity to the Mall, restaurants and bars as well as the clean and comfortable rooms all make the District an excellent place to stay. more

We had a great stay at The District. The staff was really helpful and extremely friendly and our room was great. The building was very secure and located in a very nice neighborhood - some cool bars, good coffee shops. Not knowing the city at all, we were expecting a bit of a journey to get to all the sights... more

Agree with prior posts that if you are expecting a 5 star hotel at bargain prices, you will likely be disappointed. If you are more realistic and are expecting a clean and safe place to stay with a helpful staff, then the District fits the bill! My room was especially tiny, but as I was there for work all I... more

You know, I really want to like this place because it is a decently priced hotel in Washington. While it has been painted and recarpeted, the mechanical systems still leave a lot to be desired. I have stayed at the District twice in the past 6 months and had the same problem both times. No AM hot water! Plenty of... more

Hotel is ok place to stay. They have a few more renovations to go through. The staff is extremely friendly and will help with any of your tourist needs. However, there is little to no parking in the area. They are close to downtown some things are in walking distance and some things are not depending on how far you... more

My stay at the District Hotel was wonderfully spent. The staff was friendly and helpful, they went out of their way to assist me. The morning front desk clerk is very kind. It is a reasonable price for a state of the art hotel that's close to every amenity in Washington DC. more
