The hotel's location is great. It's reasonably close to the Mall (maybe not with young kids), or the Metro stop is just across the street. The Verizon Center is also across the street as are a number of eateries to suit all pockets and tastes on 7th street, as well as Chinatown. For a quick brekky, there's Starbucks at 7... more

Hello travelerMelbourne, Thank you for your comments. I am glad that you enjoyed the location of the hotel. It is situated in the heart of China Town and close to the Mall and also the White House. The complimentary coffee is a great way to get a pick-me-up and help jump start your day. I do hope that you will...

Great little gem of a hotel. Great atmosphere and service makes up for the very small room. Right across from a good metro stop with lots of restaurants and sights within walking distance. more

We got a great deal on this extremely convenient hotel on Expedia. com. The hotel lobby was warm and welcoming. The staff was very friendly. Everyone we encountered always said hello as we passed. Our queen room was small but reminiscent of a European hotel carved out of a historical building. The room was clean and comfortable. Everything very quiet... more

I chose this hotel for it's convenient location and it was definitely a great locale! It is also safe and within walking distance for the sights I wanted to see. The housekeeping is not up to par - I drew back the heavy drapes to let in some light and there were cracker crumbs on the carpet. Since I was... more

On the plus side: Friendly desk staff, unique architecture/room layout. The best part is the location - very close to the Gallery Place metro station and Verizon Center, across the street from the Portrait Gallery + an easy, several block walk to the mall. It was the perfect base location for sightseeing during the day and catching the fireworks on... more

I chose to stay at the Hotel Monaco in DC after having a great experience at the Chicago property, and was not disappointed. We were given a room on the first floor, which turned out to be below ground, which I was a little concerned about (the hotel is housed in a historic post office, so the layout is a... more

We had a very nice stay at the Hotel Monaco. Our family stayed there for almost a week during our visit to DC. It's location is terrific; right across the street from the Portrait Gallery and the Spy Museum, and about 8 blocks from the White House. The rooms were a bit snug, but management has explained room sizes in... more

I was a bit worried from reading some negative reviews but I have to say I experienced nothing exceptionally negative during my stay. We were checked in early without prior notice and the room was clean, on the same floor as the front desk. The staff were friendly and helpful. We did not stay for the wine reception but the... more

Dear Planetx. Thank you for posting your review. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay, especially that the décor and period of the building appealed to you. It is a lovely and historical property which makes it pleasantly different to any other property in DC. On another note, I apologize about the difficulties you had while being seated at...

This hotel had a number of drawbacks for me - first of all, I stayed here at the weekend and found that the area was not quite as buzzy as was described. As a previous reviewer commented, we found it difficult to find anywhere suitable for breakfast and ended up going to a Starbucks, which was not ideal. I also... more

I stay often at Kimpton hotels and, generally, they are great. We booked the Med. suite, which is one of the largest and most expensive in this hotel. We had requested a high floor but were booked onto the first floor even though we have frequent stay status. The hotel's location is the biggrest draw as well as its historic... more
