In March I stayed at Melrose for three nights. I really enjoyed the stay. But of course you can always find something negativ or positiv in every hotel no matter how much you pay. My positiv things were: Great location The size of my room. Price ($149 pr. night) Really nice furniture My negativ things were: No breakfast included Lack... more

We recently stayed in a deluxe room for $99 and were very happy. The room was beautiful, service was excellent and the location was great. It's close to the Foggy Bottom Metro stop and close to the free shuttle to Kennedy Center. The only negative is that the bathroom could use an update. more

We're big fans of boutique hotels -- hate the cookie-cutter effect of chains. We chose the Melrose Inn because of its proximity to Georgetown (we drove to DC from Ch'ville, VA for our anniversary weekend and planned to go dancing at Georgetown bars). This place was also less than a mile from the Nat'l Mall, so we had a nice,... more

I say read this review as a 3.5 rather than a 4, for 2 reasons. 1. I ordered a steak through room service, with a blue cheese sauce. It just wasn't very nice, I'm afraid - the sauce totally dominated the meat and I just had to scrape it off. 2. I arrived at breakfast at opening time, only to... more

So far, we've stayed at the Fairmont, the M Street, the Westin, and this trip, the Melrose. All are four star hotels, all deservedly so. These hotels are located within a block of each other in what priceline calls northwest DC. We like this area as it's close to Georgetown and the mall. There's also plenty of parking on the... more

I would agree with most of the good reviews posted here. I found the front desk staff really excellent and did their best to try and held you. My only complaint was the sneaky extras at breakfast. Order the "continental" and you find out when paying that the juices offered were $6.50 extra each! There are several excellent breakfast places... more

I got an excellent last minute rate by bidding on a bargain travel site. I was pleased with the hotel from the very beginning. It has an elegant lobby and friendly front desk staff. The room was clean and well appointed. The location was perfect -- in the heart of Georgetown and close to the shopping and restaurants. The breakfast... more

The hotel is in a good location for tourists. It is walking distance to Georgetown, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Foggy Bottom Metro stop. It is very convenient to The George Washington University as it is on one of the far corners. The best way for me to describe the hotel is classic and traditional. It has the feel of... more

This is a great place to stay in DC. I live in the 'burbs and occassionally stay in the city. It is really best to stay close to one of the active neighborhoods, because the tourist areas of DC close down at night. The Melrose Hotel is a great location because it is very close to the metro, but also... more

No hot water in my room, HVAC only ran steaming hot, and a broken ice-maker on my floor. The maid service kept changing the station on the clock-radio and did not clean up the floor from the previous guests. more
