This hotel is outstanding. I went with my mother, my grandmother, and my aunt. Unfortunately, we only booked this hotel for two nights and I wished we could have stayed longer. Upon arriving at the Mandarin, we were greeted with kindness and consideration from the hotel staff. We arrived before check-in, so our room was not ready. Instead of making... more

oh my. this hotel, while gorgeous, was an absolute nightmare for us. it was clean and lovely, so that is the reason for the two stars--otherwise it would have garnered one. it was RIDICULOUSLY expensive in every respect. and it was absolutely horrible for kids. the staff truly seemed appalled that kids were invading their luxury hotel and did little... more

We exchanged some timeshare points for our six nights at the Mandarin Oriental for our family of four's vacation. We traveled with two adults and two children (pre-teens). We booked the "Tai Pan" level to be able to enjoy the services of the Tai Pan Club including breakfast in the mornings and soft-drinks throughout the day. We booked a City... more

Second time staying at the Mandarin Oriental, and it was average. For every great thing, there was a negative, for every "yes" there was a "but...". A special day, just proposed and it was her birthday. Front desk upgraded us to a "room with a view" (per the AMEX travel amenity) and then explained our other AMEX benefits; late check-out,... more

Visited in June of 2008 and had a wonderful time. No complaints from arrival to departure. The room was small, but well laid out, with a very nice bathroom and shower. The spa (pool, amethyst steamroom, dry sauna, experience shower and plunge pool all included) was very relaxing, and mostly empty the weekend we were there. The general spa staff... more

This should be the last place you stay before you die because every place afterwards will be a letdown. Let's see, what does this place have going for itself? * Location, Location, Location * Unbelieveable service * Gorgeous rooms * Magnificant view * Great food Now the bad, expensive (but worth it for special occasions) or if you can find... more

There is nothing really wrong with the MO DC. Nothing really great either. It could deliver more, but I would generally agree on the general tone of the previous reviews, that the overall attitude is too relax. In a nutshell, this is a resonably good place, but thise expecting THE Mandarin Oriental experience, that is the likes you get in... more

So we just got back from a long weekend at the Mandarin O in DC, and I'm still irritated. Despite the fact that the room was nice, the bed was comfy, the shower was wonderful, and the staff were all pleasant, I don't think I've ever had a more annoying hotel stay. Why? I'm kind of an internet addict, and... more

I went here on the weekend of 4/13 with my girlfriend on a business trip. As it was a mix of business and pleasure, we were looking for something that was relaxing, inviting, and convenient. I have to say that after staying at many top notch hotels/resorts, and even some lesser hotels that really outdid themselves, I was disappointed with... more

The spa is lovely - there is a large rectangular hot tub, a large steam room, shower with jets, mists etc., and a relaxation room where you can lie down and read or nap. My boyfrend gave me a gift certificate at Christmas worth $295 which was the price of an 80 minute massage plus gratuity. For some reason they... more
