After hearing a few bad things about Belize City we were relieved to find this hotel where we felt perfectly safe. It's still central but is a few blocks from the main street, where it was a bit daunting at night. Our room was large with shared balcony (and table and chairs) and the reception staff were friendly. The hotel... more

Asked on the ferry coming back from Caye Caulker (visiting Belize from Canada) where to stay. Directed to the "Bell Cove" but my husband asked one of the police officers when we arrived - we ended up at Mopan. Front desk staff Nadine was very helpful as to where to go for a meal - directed us to 4 different... more

We checked into Hotel Mopan on arrival in Belize City after travelling for 36 hours. Reviews had said it was quiet and clean - and it was both. Rooms are basic but good-sized - a/c worked and was very welcome. Breakfast is cooked to order and was v tasty. Good for short stop or as a base for exploring Belize. more

If you are just passing through, the Mopan is an okay place to stay. At first we were a little frightened by all the warnings of not leaving the hotel after dark, not wearing watches or any type of jewelry, and keeping close. However, after the shock of a dirty city and people "in your face" asking to ride their... more

I stayed at the Mopan during a business trip to Belize in May. They are located one block from our agent's office. The only downside, I did not get to spend more time. The rooms were very clean, the A/C was ice cold (if you like it cold like me). Also, they have a rooftop where you can take photos... more

We stayed only one night here on our way to Caye Caulker. Its a small and decent hotel in a very safe neighbourhood of Belize city. We were shocked by the friendliness of the staff and the people of the neighbourhood. We paid 70 Us dollars for a double airconditioned terrace room which was the most expensive one, and there... more

Not a bad place given the location. I felt very safe and comfortable. It's not the Radisson but it's a fraction of the price. Very helpful and friendly staff. internet terminals worked great. Rooms were clean, large, and comfortable. The view of the ocean was so-so. Yes, technically you can see the ocean, that's about it. I wouldn't pay for... more

The hotel is pretty good for the city. COMPARISON - BELIZE CITY GENERAL Even the other big more expensive hotels around, like the Radisson Fort George or the Princess might be nicer inside (and much more expensive), but their location is pretty removed from the center (maybe for a reason). My husband thinks that nobody should stay in Belize city... more

Our family truly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Mopan. We had previously stayed at the Princess Casino and were alittle leary at first because the cost was so much less. In this case you do get more than you pay for. We were shown true Belizean hospitality and we look forward to our next stay. The Escarpeta Family more

Just to follow up on some of the other reviews, the hotel is at or slightly above "par" for hotels in third world countries. The rooms are not anything you'd expect in the USA, but they are very good when compared to properties in Central America / Mexico. Staff is very friendly and willing to help you out, the computers... more
