We booked a room by a website and it was ok, except we got it at the second floor directly over a night club. If I hadn't had ear plugs I couldn't have got asleep. My parents booked their room by contacting the hotel reservation service directly. By phone they were told that that they were to pay 45 Euro... more

We stayed only one night, as planned. The foyer and ground floor have been beautifully restored and decorated. Arriving at midnight after flight problems, we found the staff adequately responsive. The great disappontment was the room, far below the standard of a supposedly 4-star hotel and thoroughly unwelcoming and depressing. There was a very strong smell of damp. The room... more

This was the end of a great Valentines surprise for my wife. Breakfast at the Gatwick Hilton. Lunch in Madrid and dinner in Casablanca. We stayed for 2 nights and did it all. Pictures always tell a better story. The mini bar in the room wasn't switched on/plugged in. We all know how fridges smell when not plugged in. The... more

We arrived without a booking in Jan 2008 (low season) as the hotel had had some good recommendations and we were looking for comfort and calm. Our guide book (2007) gave us a price range of €50 to €75. When asked about a double room, we were informed that the price was €88 plus breakfast. We mentioned the information we... more

The hotel has an old-fashioned flair to it and the rooms are big. Downsides: many taxis don't know it and don't know the name of the street; there was no heating in the room and the bathroom had a permanently open window; it was full of mosquitoes and I got so many bites on my face that it looked like... more

Was recently on a two week trip to Morocco and the Hotel Transatlantique was probably the worst hotel we encountered. While the lobby does have some charm with various antiques and old knick-knacks displayed along with interesting vintage travel posters, the rooms share none of this character. Our room was dreary, uncomfortable and not very clean. Also be VERY weary... more

The Transatlantique was Casablanca's first European style hotel built after the French occupation in 1912. Opened in 1922, this hotel maintains a certain degree of character in its public spaces and the old, tiny lift. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The view from our small terrace was of a vacant lot filed with trash. This is not... more

Areas of this hotel were infested with flies when we stayed in late March. But the staff was worse than the flies, as the flies tended only to congregate in the dining room and courtyards. The man working at the front desk was rude and somewhat odd. The hotel had no record of my reservation -- which I had made... more

Stayed here with my fiancee for two nights in March 07 for a walk-up discounted dh700/night, including breakfast. The posted rate of dh925 is way too much for this quality IMHO. We had a really hard time finding mid-range hotels in Casablanca, and walked out of half a dozen dh300 places before settling here. It was still more than we... more

If you're looking for luxury or European standard of comfort, don't come to Casablanca. But if you're here on business and don't want to spend a bajillion diram on a hotel that you only use to sleep in, then by all means book in at the Hotel Transatlantique. It's charming in that "it smells funny but looks clean enough" kind... more
