what a gem of a riad this place is. we stayed for longer than planned as we were not well, but could not have been in a better place in the whole of morocco. the riad is stunning and takes your breath away every morning when you wake up and realise where you are. the owners, kate and alaa are... more

A short walk from Bab R’cif, down an alley from Seffarine Square where the coppersmiths are working, behind an unmarked door, is this magical place. The entrance opens to a beautiful courtyard filled with the smell of orange blossom. It is here that Alaa, Kate and/or Mohammed will welcome you with mint tea. The riad has been beautifully restored –... more

Wow wow wow…what can I say? This place is a must for anyone travelling to Morocco. It’s worth a trip to Fes just to stay here! Initially difficult to find (but this is the case with most riads in Moroccan medinas!), Dar Seffarine is in the perfect location, a short walk from one of the medina gates, and located next... more

Tucked away off the noisy back streets of Fez, Dar Seffarine is an oasis in this hectic vibrant city. Beautifully restored by the most amazing hosts, Alaa and Kate, you feel like you've stepped back in time with a few nods to the modern world. From the moment we entered we were made to feel at home by Kate and... more

... because it might make all your other accommodation in Morocco look a little second rate. Combining Moroccan artistry with Scandanavian restraint, this beautiful house has been restored by Alaa and Kate with love and a lot of hard work. We had the Annika suite, while our children shared the twin-bedded Blaine room. We were treated like house guests by... more

My wife and I stayed at Dar Seffarine for two nights in January in a room on the ground floor for 70 euros a night. The Dar is very beautiful and well kept with a wonderful roof top terrace and lovley central atrium. The ground floor has a nice reading room and another smaller salon with internet access. Our room... more

We both thought that the building was stunning, the restoration is first class. The breakfast was excellent and fun as we were really lucky with the other guests all being really nice, friendly and interesting. The dinner too was superb and very good value for money - if you don't mind a late one. You know there's a BUT coming... more

Dar Seffarine is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in! It's located right in the centre of Fes Medina and its roof top terrace commands views of all but a tiny part of the old town and surrounding hills. The building is extremely old and has been accurately and lovingly restored by its owners - and hosts,... more

I stayed in Dar Seffarine in Fes during a trip there for the Christmas period of 2007. I had visited Fes before but not stayed in the medina, and my experience of Dar Seffarine was wonderful. My room was beautifully clean and well appointed, with a very generous bed size. The food was excellent, breakfast was really a meal to... more

As is typical in Fes, the walk up and the exterior of the Dar leave a lot to be desired (we learned that behind most understated doors lie elaborately decorated homes). But once the door is opened, you are swept away by the extraordinary beauty of the place. Alaa and Kate - the proprietors - clearly poured their heart and... more
