The Hotel Riverview was one of the most unpleasant hotels on our trip to Bhutan: the staff were unhelpful(quite unlike the rest of our experiences in Bhutan), the rooms were dirty (and not cleaned during the day: basically they made up the bed & replaced the towels). As for the restaurant...we went back to the Taj for supper on the... more

The review of June 2, 2006 perfectly sums up the lack of cleanliness of our room. The room also featured a small, hard bed. We were equally displeased by the restaurant, which offered only buffet with few choices and not hot either. The only plus we found was that the wi-fi service worked consistently, although it was quite slow. more

Our tour, Bhutan Scenic Tours suggested this hotel over the Julmohari because of the barking dogs in Thimphu. The room was nice and large and had a view of the river. Room was clean, hardwood floors. Bathroom was clean and simple. The hotel was undergoing renovations. The restaurant was good (not buffet). We could hear the faint noise of barking... more

We booked ahead since we heard the tourist season was going to be crowded and we had heard the RIverview hotel was very good. I would say the rooms were very nice with the balconies overlooking the whole city of Timphu. The view is stunningly beautiful. The rooms were up to my expectation and the hotel people were very welcoming... more

Key takeaways from my stay: 1. Pleasant hotel. Don't expect a 5-star accommodation of the variety in India, but it compares very well with a good 3-star hotel. 2. Good variety in food, even though the quality was average. 3. Nice views of the Thimpu valley. The balconies are a very nice place to sit in the evenings. 4. It's... more

After writing some reviews for a recent trip it occurred to me that I never reviewed this hotel after our almost stay there last October. We were shown to our room which appeared not to have been cleaned since the place was built. It was one of those rooms where you couldn't imagine taking a shower or even taking off... more

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Riverview and found the following: -reception was courteous and staff were friendly -accomodation is equivalent to a 2 or 3 star hotel in the US. For us, it was more of a 2 star equivalent. -the room provided one disposable pouch of shampoo per day that works as hair coloring as well... more

The hotel Riverview is based on the on the other side of the river to Thimpu, the capital of Bhutan. This means it is pretty quiet but if you want to wander around the town in the evenings it's less convenient. The rooms have a little terrace overlooking the town and satellite tv with quite a few English language channels.... more

Our tour guide arranged for us to stay in the Hotel Riverside. It was that or the Druk but we chose the Riverside because there is alot of construction going on in town and the Druk in next to the construction and we are away from it. It is a very nice hotel. The views of Thimphu are terrific from... more

Being in Bhutan, gives you this feeling that you have really gone back in time....far from the maddening pace of things in everyday life. Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, is tiny town situated on the bank of a river called the Thimphu-Chu. On one side of the river is the town of Thimphu and on the other side is the... more
