I can't beleive that the Oriental isn't ranked as number one here on TripAdvisor. I booked my room through American Express and was upgraded on arrival. The hotel was packed as it was Easter weekend and yet everyone at the front desk remembered my name. Go figure. I had just flown into Bangkok and was not leaving my room that... more

This is a wonderful hotel! One of my absolute favorites of all city hotels in the world and because of this fact, it hurts me to give Oriental only four points. The elderly gentleman behind the reception desk who took care of me upon my arrival is due to the missing point. I have some expectations when arriving to a... more

This is without a doubt the best hotel in the world. The best service, food, location, facilities.... Just the BEST!! I had the best holidays of my live. We told them it was our wedding anniversary and they arrange a fantastic present for us and an evening amenity every night! The food in the restaurant is the best I have... more

This MUST be the wold's best hotel!! The hotel and its location are beautiful, the rooms nicely designed and fairly spacious, the staff always friendly and welcoming, there when you need them, leaving you alone when you don't. After just one day the liftboy knew which floor we were staying on (the hotel has over 400 rooms). Having breakfast or... more

My wife and I stayed here on the last leg of honeymoon. We stayed at a suite in the Oriental, which had the most amazing view of the Chao Phraya. Every day we had fresh fruit and flowers. Our butler was very attentive and informative. However I did think the bathroom was a bit on the small side. The Oriental's... more

We made a return three night visit to this unique property and found it little altered by its 2006 makeover. Even minimalists will be seduced by the timeless elegance of its ‘colonial’ décor and sybarites will feel at home with the opulence on offer. The original 19c hotel can be sensed best in the Authors’ Lounge but the ambience has... more

Some friends recommended this hotel. We had a room with a balcony, strangely only one floor seems to have these but you get a good view of the river, the gardens and the pool. The staff and service are excellent. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the river is enchanting and the choice of food is amazing. We had dinner in... more

This is a fine hotel. The service is impeccable. The rooms are okay. My only problem with it is the reservations system. The don't confirm you bedding choice or smoking/non-smoking. We arrived thinking we we were going to get a deluxe garden view wing room, non-smoking, with a king bed. Instead we got a smoking room with two twins. Made... more

Yet another first class visit to The Oriental. Stayed in the SEA Writers deluxe suite and was very impressed with the rooms, their size and location, with great balcony and views up and down the river Chao Praya. Ate at Terrace Rim Naam (very good) and Lord Jim's (excellent), plus the breakfast selection at the Verandah Restaurant is extremely good.... more

If you are seeking a vast array of guest services, resort type sports facilities, gleaming swimming pools and high-tech solutions, there are plenty of other fine hotel properties in Bangkok to choose from, often at lower prices. The Oriental is different. As a guest, you are instantly enveloped into another world. Some if this may be fantasy and history, some... more
