Stayed at the Shangri-La 15 April for four nights. Just catching the Songkran Festival, so we hid in the hotel for a night to avoid getting soaked! Overall the hotel was lovely, room was really nice with a lovely view over the river, we also were put in a room with an extra large bed! The breakfast is amazing it... more

After four stays at the Marriott Resort & Spa I thought maybe a change was in order and booked a suite in the Shangri-la. The hotel looks lovely and right on the river etc but the room was just so plain and boring. There was nothing Thai about the room at all you felt like you could just be anywhere... more

This is a beautiful hotel right on the Chao Phraya river. It consists of 2 wings - you can't go wrong with either wing. The rooms are spacious and those with a balcony overlooking the river are exceptional. Breakfast is luxurious - especially at an outdoors table next to the river. Especially wonderful about the Shangri-la is its staff. Everyone... more

We have stayed at the Shangri La in Bangkok on three trips to Thailand from 2005. The first time as a couple on our own and the last two times as a family with a young child. I would say this hotel would be better suited to people travelling without young children even though they do there best, it really... more

We stayed in the Krungthep Wing at the Shangri-La in Bangkok April 2008. I would STRONGLY advise booking via their website - their packages are superb and you will get fantastic inclusions for less than the rack rate of a more basic room in the main wing via a travel agent. We were greeted at Bangkok Airport by a Shangri-La... more

As part of a wedding party of 14 it was going to be hard not to enjoy our stay in Bangkok and my previous experiences of the city involved the notorious guesthouses of koh san road so I havn't got much to campare too but I thought this hotel was just amazing. Firstly the staff are so polite and attentive... more

Great experience overall at this hotel. Lobby is beautiful. Room and bathroom need updating. Staff was courteous and friendly. Buffet breakfast was good with lots of choices. Location is okay. We had hard time finding a place to eat near the hotel. Train station is close to hotel so transporation isn't a problem. And you can always take a taxi,... more

We stayed at the Shangri-La in Bangkok for 3 nights in April 2008. After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor we decided to upgrade to the Krungthep Wing - it is well worth it. The whole wing has a very tranquil feel to it. Because of the riverside location you hardly feel that you are in a major city. The room... more
