We stayed at the Viengtai for 3 nights in December. The location- in terms of seeing the city- was great, but being one road away from Khao San Road it was very noisy at night- loud live music until 2am was hard to sleep through. The room was OK, nothing special, and breakfast fairly average (but omelettes on request very... more

I stayed there in oct 2006 as part of my Intrepid tour. I booked an extra few days beforehand. Hotel was clean in lobby and clean room. Staff were okay and hotel location is pretty central to KSR area. It can be noisy if your room is facing front of hotel where there is sometimes late music from bars opposite.... more

Good location, near palace and river. Clean, staff is helpful, nice pool. Breakfast is Western and Asian styles plenty to eat which is included in the room cost. Good price for what you get. We made reservation for a king bed which was not available when we arrived so they upgraded us to a Deluxe Room had nice wood floor... more

We stayed at the Viengtai on the last day of our holiday having returned from the Islands. We had previously stayed on Sukhumvit Rd but wanted to be closer to the action. We arrived in the middle of Songkran, the Thai New Year 'Water and Powder' festival. It was as busy as the Notting Hill Carnival, as loud, but much... more

Stayed for 3 nights at the start of a tour of Thailand. First room offered was v.basic and smelt damp, unfortunately this seems to be the case in a lot of hotels I have stayed in in Asia (humidity v rainy season). I asked reception for an upgrade, I was willing to pay the difference, but they gave an upgrade... more

I stayed in this hotel in 2005 as part of an Intrepid tour and although it was a basic hotel I found the location, rooms and staff great and the rooms quiet. It has changed since then! My partner and I booked this hotel for two nights at the start of our trip and three at the end (which is... more

My family was there - 9th March - 11th March 2008. At the Hotel - Bell boy was very helpful. He (forgot his name) is able to speak Mandarin, Malay etc. The receptionist was friendly. Keep valuable items in the (small) safe box at the reception (Deposit 500 BHT. Returned when check out). Triple Room - Comfortable. Air con adjustable.... more

This hotel is overpriced mainly because of its location. the rooms are old and smelly. Bathroom was ok, but the rest was a big NO NO. Old smelly wall to wall carpeting, bed was extremly hard, the worst ive ever slept in. My hip lost sence of feeling because of this. The minibar is mainly some nuts, and some beer.... more

Horrible stay, would not recommend it. Perhaps they have half the rooms renovated, but ours was not. The room was old and small, the bathroom musty, the furnishings weren t really clean, including the sheets, the bed was old, stained and hard as plywood, the carpet was old, and probably hasn t been vacuumed in a while, the fridge didn... more
