New Siam, was perfect what I was looking for. 1. Clean and nice room 2. Own bathroom 3. Near Khao San Rd 4. Next to the River & ferry. 5. Under $70 It met all of these criterea perfectly. And for me it was just far enough outside Khao San Rd, to not be right in with all the backpackers.... more

We stayed in New Siam Riverside twice in the last 4 months. The first time for 5 days in December 2007 and then again in April for 2 days. The first time the travel agent there was very helpful. There was no travel agent on duty in April- not sure why. Rooms are nice and clean- most are spacious. Nice... more

The New Siam riverside hotel is a fantastic retreat from the chaos of Bangkok. My boyfriend and I enjoyed it so much we stayed there before and after our trip to Koh Phangan. In contrast to some reviewers, I had a delightful stay - extending one night to three. Being right on the river was captivating and hypnotising. Excellent [free] breakfasts; a block only from the backpacker-scene; wonderful room with hot shower; mediocre TV [but who cares]. The service was fine, if one is a bit patient. more

The attiude here is so bad. It seems the reception finds it a bother when a guest asks something. I told them the air conditioner was making a noise--was not fixed, told them there is an awful smell like from the drains---i got a dirty look. The head receptionist shouts, & before u even have coffee she asks about paying.... more
