Hong Ngoc was exactly what we expected--clean, extremely convenient (at the heart of the Old Town), and ho-hum. Rooms were nicely appointed, if a bit cramped; showers worked hot at all hours; desk staff was helpful (although, like most of Vietnam, they don't speak extensive english); and breakfast was a good spread.
