My partner and I were visiting Hanoi on business and the Melia was very well situated for the part of the city we needed to be in. The hotel is heavily used by tour groups which led to congestion in the dinning room and the front lobby in early morning and evening, the rooms are standard European but with the... more

Stayed in the Melia Hanoi for a weekend break from KL with a few friends. All in all, it was pleasent and served its purpose. The check-in was painless and quick (there was a mix up with our visas - we got stuck at the airport for 2 hours so - this effeciency put the holiday back on track again).... more

I booked for 3 nights through one of the Asian online booking services, and the rate included taxes, service fees, and breakfast. I found the room to be clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was fine, although trying to get some coffee out of the employees was always a chore. This attitude problem seems to pervade Vietnam. I enjoyed the... more

Wonderful hotel set in south of the lake. The service was outstanding from the moment we arrived at the front door to checking out. The staff are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble The room was large, and very comfortable. more

It is certainly a popular confernce hotel. During my stay there, there were at least 2 international conferences going on each day and you often saw a crowd during rush hours (breakfast and lunchtime in particular) in resturant or in lifts. The food is fine, breakfast is ok and the lunch buffet is good. Free mineral water is provided in... more

This was the first hotel we stayed in on our tour of Vietnam. Nothing really bad to say about this hotel but does not stand out as being one of the best we stayed in. Our room was on the fourth floor - avoid this floor if you can because we were disturbed by the music and vibrations from the... more

Melia is a nice 5* (according to their brochure) hotel in Hanoi. It is reasonably close to the old town - around 6-7 blocks and can definitely be walked. Taxi ride would be around $1. The rooms are nice and spacious with excellent sheets. Bathroom is modern and clean. Breakfast buffet is little lacking compared to other 5* hotels in... more

Yes, the Melia wouldn't win prizes for good looks ( fom the outside ), but actually being one of the taller buildings makes it easier to find when out sightseeing ! We had the package that included the complimentary aternoon tea, evening snacks & drinks etc., as well as breakfast and for the rate we paid it was very good... more

As other reviewers have noted, the Melia is best suited as a business hotel and it gets my vote as the ugliest major hotel in Hanoi. Our travel agent booked us on the Executive Level (18th floor), and that was very convenient to the breakfast area (same floor). There were some decent perks with this package: complimentary afternoon tea, happy... more

This was my least favorite hotel during our visit to Vietnam with stops through Bangkok. It is really more of a business than tourist hotel. I agree with other writers that there is really nothing wrong with it but also not anything great about it. Rooms were average. Hotel has a lot of deferred maintenance needs. (In the dining room... more
