The hotel location is one of the best when i walked around the old quarter. Very near to the shoe market, the water puppet theather, the famous lake and late night you still can cross over to the other side to have pho for supper. Try to stay in a room that's not near the main road, such as those... more

Stayed at the Gia Bao Hotel for 4 days over New Years, 2008, and had a very pleasant experience. When I first arrived at the airport, I almost got scammed by the taxi driver, who was in cahoots with a travel agency that tried to tell me that Gia Bao was full and get me to stay at the Sunflower... more

How you like the Gia Bao will depend on your expectations. Vietnam hotels in general, like most of Southeast Asia, have small rooms, little closet space and no drawers. Perhaps the 5-star hotels are different. Their sensibilities are so different from those of affluent Westerners. In my experience, most tourists adapt just fine to the inconveniences. But be prepared for... more

Generally this is a very good place to stay if you are in Hanoi. On the way in I bumped into an American government worker who always stayed there when visting Vietnam, so that put me at ease immediately. The central location is superb but can be a little noisy if you are in the front rooms ending in "01".... more

I first stayed at GIAO BAO in Spring 2007 and I happily returned to this wonderful place in October 2007. I stayed for 8 days while on university-business there. Returning to GIAO BAO was like "coming home". The staff are so very friendly and helpful, including the staff at the front-desk, the door/bell captains, restaurant and house-keeping staff.. They assisted... more

I stayed here for several weeks while on business, and I would recommend it to anyone, especially those traveling to Hanoi for the first time. The staff is excellent, can speak English well, and are more than happy to help you get you where you need to go. The hotel rooms are sizeable and comfortable. more

My brother-in-law and I stayed in deluxe rooms here for 2 nights in the beginning of July. I highly recommend Gia Bao Ha Noi Hotel for travelers who are price sensitive, yet expect quality and customer service. The location is wonderfully convenient, as it is minutes away from Hoan Kiem Lake, other sites of importance, and a slew of tasty... more

We stayed at this very nice little hotel in the heart of the Old Quarter. Very friendly staff, helpful, rooms are clean and comfortable, and price very decent. We paid $30 a night for 2 people, and I'd recommend this place to anybody. We actually did talk about the hotel to some fellow travelers and they switch from their hostels... more

Stayed in the hotel for close to a week and I must say that the service is great! The staff are attentive and very friendly, always willing to help. For the price, Gia Bao offers a very good deal with comfortable bed, nice room (I stayed in a suite room, with toiletries all provided for), and good breakfast. House-keeping is... more
