We were traveling as a group of 8 so we had to make our room reservations weeks in advance and confirmed each reservation before we left. When we arrived at Morning Star at 11pm, they said they had *NO RECORD of our reservation*. Comotion ensued, and only after 20 minutes of them questioning us, did we realize they had 3... more

Don't trust the Morning Star. We had booked with them several months before travelling, which means absolutel zip to them. They have a bad reputation for letting you down . . . and guess what!!! Fortunately we knew of their poor image (but decided to take a chance, being ever positive ;-)), so were mentally prepared for this, but still... more

Yuk. We were planning to stay at the Golden Sun down the street and arrived in Hanoi one day early. Mrs. Moon (of Golden Sun) arranged for us to stay at the Morning Star, right down the street. The room didn't have enough heat. We were there during a cold spell with a newly adopted baby and there was not... more

Our family of four stayed at the Morning Star in late December 2007 and early January 2008, with breaks in between for trips to Halong Bay and Sapa. It was very clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water and reasonable water pressure. The reception staff were wonderful – helpful and friendly. They organised taxis for us, booked a city... more

We stayed in the Morning Star in Nov 07. The Hotel is ok, especially the room-numbers ending with 01 are nice. We booked the Morning Star twice in advance and we never got the promised room in the Morning Star but were sent to a different hotel in a less attractive location and with less attractive rooms (for the same... more

The real Hanoi experience - genuine staff, an arm's reach from local businesses and eateries, a hop skip and jump to Hoan Kiem Lake. The previous reviewer is spot on, the hotel is immaculately clean with all the amenities and comfort of a five star property. I booked via email after checking out reviews on tripadvisor as well as for... more

out of all the hotels I've stayed at in hanoi- from 5 star to 2-3 star this little hotel was by far the best in every way. It is situated a two minute walk from the Lake and minutes from the best shopping areas in the Old Quarter on a quiet lovely little street called Hang Hahn. Our room on... more

We travelled to Hanoi knowing that we would have to book a hotel at the airport. We did this and were sent to a hotel that was NOT the Morning Star; a satisfactory hotel, 20 mins from the lake with a balcony over a very noisy road. The next day we looked to change hotels and book a tour to... more

We have initially booked for another hotel in the vicinity of Hang Hanh, however upon arrival to that hotel, it was full and we were being ushered to Morning Star hotel, just few steps down the same road. The room was very comfortable for a family of 4 , with 1 double bed and 1 single bed, and an additional... more

We recently stayed at the newly-refurbished Morningstar Hotel in Hanoi on Hang Hanh near to Hoan Kiem Lake. The Hotel was great value for money and has just been refurbished, so the rooms are new-looking and clean. The staff are not pushy with regard to organising tours (although they are willing to do so) and the 7th floor breakfast room... more
