Unfortunately, I think this hotel is like most of the top hotels in Ho Chi Minh. For 70-100 US dollars, this would have been an acceptable three star in Hungary but for $150 a night, there was dodgy a/c, the beds were made of iron as were the pillows, covered in poly-mix sheets, the bathrooms were last updated during the... more

On an earlier visit to HMC we stayed at the Caravelle Hotel. Nice corporate style hotel, not great, and fairly sterile. Small restaurant for breakfast and tiny reception foyer. On our next trip we decided to stay at the Continental which is just across the square. It's old, but it was fantastic. We booked a room that overlooked the Opera... more

Yes ... it is an historical building... Yes it is well located in Saigon... BUT... this hotel need an URGENT and major "up to date" / renovation !! We stayed there for 4 nights at the end of a 2 months trips in South Asia (Thailand - Cambodia - Vietnam). The last hotel of our trip and... unfortunately... the worst... more

As practically every other reviewer has stated, the great pluses of this hotel are its comparatively reasonable price and its excellent location in the heart of Saigon with, for example, any number of good restaurants within walking distance. The hotel seems very impersonal though this may be a function of its size. The rooms, although large, lack any charm, and... more

A friend who's a HCMC local recommended this hotel - primarily for the location. Pluses: - she was right - location, location, location right next to the opera house smack bang in the centre of town (even the motorcycles go to bed late at night) - the BIG rooms (stayed 2x2 nights in deluxe rooms 306 and 305) - clean... more

I visited the Saigon for business visit and my associates in Saigon suggested me to stay here. I was glad that I accepted their decision to book me at Continental. The great thing about hotel is the location which is in heart of city centre. Its located next to opera and in evenings, you can just sit on steps and... more

I stayed at the Continental Hotel for 3 nights in February. My choice of room was a deluxe room and it was huge!! The room had a seperate sitting area and huge windows which looked out onto the street below. The breakfast at the hotel was absolutely delicious and the outdoor courtyard just added to the breakfast exerience. The staff... more

Absolutely perfect location, nice colonial style hotel. Rooms oldfashioned in the cool way. Not so friendly staff, though. Excellent breakfast buffet. Historical touch (as Graham Greene's "The Quiet American" lead character goes there). more

This hotel cannot have a better location in Saigon. Next door the Hyatt and Sheraton are going for triple the price. Yes, the Continental is a government-run hotel, but I was impressed non-the -less. This is the best ‘Communist’ government hotel I have ever stayed in. This hotel has everything a 5 star has except a swimming pool, and the... more

In the heart of Ho Chi Minh City(HCM)(formerly Saigon). Vietnam's largest city and a thriving metropolis. I celebrated my 60th birthday here, in April 2007. I stayed here for one week, April 26th to May 2nd, 2007. I had a Jr. Suite, which cost $ 99 U.S.D. The room was one of the biggest hotel room's I have ever stayed... more
