Stopped over in the Rex twice, so as a small group of 3 couples we each got to stay in two different rooms on both the 4th and 5th floor at the rear. The rooms we used were all fairly noisy. Our rooms had inner windows facing an open corridor that echoed the passage of every giggling late guest and... more

My wife and I spent several days at the Rex. Our room was comfortable and the staff were friendly and accommodating - the way so many people are in Vietnam. The breakfast buffet is excellent, although the choices are the same every day. Try the breads - excellent croissants and mini baguettes. It's easy to walk to restaurants and shopping... more

This is the worst hotel of our stay in Vietnam; the hotel offers a lot of facilities i.e. pool, 4 restaurants (only 2 open during our stay), and a roof top bar. The room however on the 1st floor although a good size with 2 reasonably comfy chairs was tired. Our room faced inwards so the windows had been blanked... more

Stayed for three nights as part of a package tour from Australia. Great location, good breakfast but very bad rooms. Located out the back with a very smelly, noisy view if you opened the frosted glass door. The room had very old fittings, dirty stained mouldy carpet. The hotel does have a great location and a very fancy lobby but... more

Location: Rex Hotel in HCMC is a 6-storey hotel downtown. Very convenient and within easy reach to many shops, convenient stores and Ben Thanh Market. Facilities: FYI, the pool was undergoing renovation during my period of stay but the little note in the hotel room said it will be ready by end Apr. It offers free wireless internet but if... more

This hotel, while perfectly situated in District 1 from a tourism perspective, Is A Total,Dump. It is owned (and managed) by the government of Viet Nam whose expertise in the international service industry isn't a well-known, brand name. Clearly, the government accords it 4 or 5 stars, and they are lying. A large percentage of the rooms (I went through... more

In the process of a major renovation (1/2008) rack rate for a standard room $220US plus tax and service, which is high. Location, right down town. We think room 255 was a standard room and was prepaid by tour agency. Nice sized room, clean, a little tired, mini-bar, large safe, good a/c, free wi-fi in room, free breakfast buffet, 2... more

Recently stayed at the Rex Hotel and would advise you not too go. Got food poisoning the second day I was there and as I hadn’t eaten anywhere but in the hotel it wasn’t difficult to work out. There are much better hotels in the area and would advise you to look around. The hotel is dated and our room... more

This would have to be the most overrated hotel in Vietnam. We were booked into this hotel for 4 nights by our travel agent. The first 2 nights we were given a room in the West wing. The room had dirty carpet, the room smelt and the bathroom was a complete malfuction. There was a balcony which overlooked the hotel... more

Big historic hotel, the rooms are big, the rooftop terrace is great, the pool is tiny! Sure it's noisy but it's also slap bang in the middle of HMC so you expect it. more
