Great position, friendly staff, ok rooms, very nice breakfast, lovely roof top pool and bar area. The only real problem was the Night Club, the Doof Doof can be heard right through the building. I was so tired I slept right through it but others in my group had trouble sleeping. more

This hotel location is good, but I advise you to stay away from this hotel. The reasons are: 1. At night, they have night club right on the first floor, and I stayed in 4th floor and the music is too loud all night long. You won't be able to sleep at all. This is the worst of my trip... more

This is not a hotel - this is a disco with rooms attached to it! Many members of the group we travelled with complained about the disco noise ( 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., heavy metal music) in their rooms on floors 3 and 4, and asked for rooms higher up in the building. The management was more than reluctant... more

Certainly avoid room 204 which is directly above the disco - but the view from the balcony at 4am is great when you can't sleep. If you really must stay here - and the rooms were large and clean and the breakfast was great and the view from the roof is superb - suggest room 211. I was moved here... more

We booked this hotel through a reputable travel company for 4 nights in February 2007. On arrival all looked good, nice reception, attentive staff, nice deluxe room on the 5th floor. After having a lovely 'hot rock' meal in the hotel restaurant we went back to the room at around 10pm to be faced with a 'boom boom, boom' noise... more

The Palace Hotel was booked by my travel agent some months ago. Just before I left on my holiday I saw a post on Travel Advisor which sent alarm bells about the disco noise at this hotel. The travel agent assured me that they had never had any complaints before and the report must have been a one-off. Unfortunately, it... more

Arrived from Sydney after a 9 hr flight exhausted and wanting a good sleep, staff at front desk said "sorry but all we have for you and small child is room on second floor and it is a bit noisy". We had booked through a travel agent and after reading this forum and seeing previous post regarding doof doof, we... more

Take earplugs if you stay at the Palace Hotel. The nightclub on the 1st floor which operates every night from 9pm until 2.30am sends a subtle but brain- frying bass beat through rooms as high as the 8th floor. We made one room change to a higher level, but it didn't help. The rooms are small and slowly being renovated-... more

We found the service and attitude of staff relatively good here, and I guess the value is OK given its great location. But this place has one huuuuge drawback, this being the fact they have a DISCO IN BEHIND THE LOBBY. We were on the fifth floor and were treated to outrageously loud DOOF DOOF sounds from 9.30 until 2am... more

We stayed 3 nights in the Palace. We rated the hotel 2.5 stars, rather ordinary - nothing like its namesake. The breakfast buffet was OK (liked the variety of fruits & breads). Our room was clean and hot water in the bath. For drinking, there's a electric jug that you can use to boil water. They also supply 2 free... more
