I stayed at the Renaissance Jerusalem Hotel as part of a conference (the hotel has a convention centre so there is a fair chance there will be a conference on while you are staying there). The hotel consists of 2 ugly tower block type buildings. The decor and atmosphere in the hotel is quite old fashioned 1970's style and the... more

We stayed at the Renaissance-now it's a Ramada-for 5 nights late June of this year. We were with a group of 30 couples. The hotel is run down, the rooms were dreary, the bathroom tiles were cracked and the drapes were soiled and torn. Combine that with the fact the front desk didn't seem to care about its customers made... more

We were with a tour group and purchased their "premium plan" which was suppose to include 5 star hotel accomodations. (The folks that purchased the "popular plan" raved about their accomodations at a nearby hotel.) The carpeting in our room was filthy as were the draperies. In fact the black out drape was not only dirty but ripped! We were... more

I traveled to Israel on a group trip and paid extra to stay in a delux hotet. We spant five nights at the Renaissance. The carpets and upolstered furniture were so dirty that I requested a change of rooms, which they would not do. Many of the others in my tour group had also requested a new room because of... more

I visited Jerusalem last week, and had few friends from New York coming to Israel. When they told me they would like to stay in Jerusalem for two days, I jumped and Traveled 45 Minutes from Tel-Aviv arriving to Jerusalem. A night before I login to my accout at hotels.com and looked for an Hotel in Jerusalem. I Must tell... more

I stayed at the 'lesser' Royal Wing as the Renaissance Wing was fully booked, and I'm amazed at some of the criticisms on this site. Firstly, I found nearly all the staff really helpful. There was one lady on Reception in the Royal Wing who was a bit curt, and the staff at breakfast could have been taught how to... more

This hotel was a part of a Holy Land tour so I had nothing to say about the selection of it. We were warned that some hotels do not meet American expectations, and if this is really a 5 star rating that was an understatement, yet expectations were not high to begin with. AwGinotShomron on Dec 30, 2006 reported the... more

I'm updating a review I gave last May 2007, having returned to this property. Here are some random notes: 1. Full renovation (e.g. new bathrooms, new TVs, new furniture) has yet to occur (see also # 9 below) 2. Housekeeping does not change bed linens daily. They simply make the bed. I could not determine how often bed linens are... more

This hotel located in West Jerusalem is convenient for those visiting the Knesset, Israel Museum and the Hebrew University. Not as plush as you would expect from a Marriott property, as the rooms are rather dull with sparse furnishings. Overall, the hotel is quiet, safe and offers free parking. The free Israeli breakfast offers a bounty of fish, vegetables and... more

We just returned from a stay here. My advice: Stay Away! It baffles me that Marriott would keep this property in its collection! Renaissance Hotels are Marriott properties, but how this one got away from their usual high standards is mind-boggling! Dirty, worn out, run down, are the best descriptions. Staff is very indifferent to guests, and ultra-religious in the... more
