Spent a week in Nov 07 at this hotel. Superb location for the old city, 2 mins from Damascus Gate. Staff friendly and rooms are great if you want that 'old jerusalem' feel. Food superb. I would stop at this hotel again in the future. more

My mother and I enjoyed our stay at the Jerusalem Hotel. The location is a short 5-minute walk from the Damascus Gate of the Old City. Our room was HUGE and had a small balcony with a partial view of the Old City. The bathroom was small, but adequate. The staff was very helpful and the restaurant was inexpensive and... more
The hotel is a medieval mansion, with stone floors and walls, enormously high ceilings, and beautiful antique furniture and light fixtures. It has a great restaurant in a private garden, serving great value, delicious Middle Eastern food. You can get strong Arabic coffee in the morning and delicious Palestinian wine in the evening. It is a five minute walk to... more
My husband and i have just spent 6 nights at this amazing hotel. They found out that it was our 25th wedding anniversary and gave us a bottle of wine to celebrate. The staff were amazing. The food excellent and the rooms although quite small were truly the best value for money. We spent 6 nights here and then 3... more
Like its pricier neighbor, the American Colony Hotel, the Jerusalem Hotel is a quiet, charming, well-located hotel five minutes walk to the Old City in one direction and the Orthodox neighborhood of Mea Shea'rim in the other. Built in traditional Jerusalem stone, with ceilings that must be 20' high, it's traditional in every sense: decor, style, and hospitality. The telephone... more

This is a very good hotel. The situation near the bus and taxi station at the Damascus Gate is really excellent. The personel is very helpful and friendly. But : for $ 120,- per room and per night, we would have appreciated to have air conditioning in the (beautiful) room and not a large fan. Especially in august 2006 (average... more
I have been at the Jerusalem Hotel during Christmas vacations 2005-06. It is in the eastern part of Jerusalem, very close to the Old City. We never experienced safety problems, and we used to walk to the hotel after 10 pm. I really enjoyed it, because it has a lot of atmosphere, much more than standard international hotel chains. Staff... more
The Jerusalem Hotel is interesting in several regards. First, it gives you easy access to the Old City, 200 meters from Damascus Gate, the main entrance to the Muslim quarter. Ten minutes walk from Jaffa Gate, and from there, a stroll to Jaffa Street, Ben-Yehuda, and most of the New city. Short of staying in the Old City itself (I... more
Staying in Jerusalem to rest and visit friends after a long trek over Asia, the Jerusalem Hotel provides a relaxed and comfortable base. It has none of the atmosphere of the a chain hotel - which is great. It has a small lobby with a constantly available computer and delightful rooms that are nothing like anything you will find anywhere... more
