Stayed a couple of nights at the omayad paying about £75 per night for a large comfortable room on the third floor. DO NOT BOOK A ROOM ON THE THIRD FLOOR - you are directly under Bar z, one of the noisiest clubs in town with dance music pounding out until 2am- you will not be able to sleep! luckily... more

We didnt have hotel reservations and showed up. They charged us $167 for a very large, but dated room. It had a separate shower and tub. The tub was dirty with some marks and hairs. As we went out, i mentioned it to the front desk They said they would send someone up right away. They never did. This hotel... more

We chose this hotel on a recommendation by Lonely Planet. The Art Deco lobby is lovely with some very nice period features in the hotel generally. I found the room rate very expensive, even after some negotiation. This does not include breakfast. The check-in was efficient but not particularly friendly. The room was large and clean with a good bathroom... more

My wife and I recently stayed at the Omayad for 7 nights, from 21-28 Dec. We stayed on the 2nd floor, and found the rooms, the beds, the bath, the facilities and the service all excellent. Our room had double sliding doors to the veranda to block out the street noise. We were not so keen on the restaurants in... more

A traditional 4-star hotel, impeccable service and friendly desk staff . Old-fashioned high-ceilinged double rooms on third floor; rooms on lower floors smaller: modern bathrooms. Some rooms have connecting doors - with risk of neighbour noise. A good base for planning and arranging short tours to Syrian sites, Krak, the Lebanon etc. The associated Whispers restaurant also good - menu... more

Room OK but some noticeable restrictions for the price (110 $) : . very noisy hotel (wedding party each night, no sound insulation between rooms). In spite of staying on the 3rd floor, the music was VERY loud in the room. Moreover, a baby was staying in the room beside for all my stay and all the cries sound to... more

Not a bad place - the car service to Palmyra was excellent. The hotel itself is a little beat up. Rooms were good size. Bar on the roof is amazing. Front desk was not as helpful as I feel it could have been. Not sure I would stay here again, but it wasn't bad. more

I've spent five nights at Omayad hotel.I should declare that the services offered to me were exceeding my expectations. The hotel is in excellent, and viable location, whre you can find all you need.In addition to that, it's super clean, quite ,air conditioned, and offers a free wifi internet service. More than these ,the staff are too kind and cooperative, and the rates are reasonable... more

I had a most enjoyable stay at the Omayad hotel, Damascus. I miss the morning coffee and the great breakfast. The staff was most courteous and pleasant during my entire stay. I had a wonderful time in Damascus and I enjoyed meeting the people. Thank you again, [-] more

This hotel has a good location in the new city. For us this meant space for a carpark outside with valet when necessary. It is within walking distance of the museum and a short taxi ride to the old city so we did not need to tackle traffic and parking issues in Damascus. I liked the busy atmosphere of the... more
