The Semiramis is in a convenient location downtown Cairo. The staff and service was excellent and the price was well worth it. The only set back is if you want an "Egyptian-looking" hotel while in Cairo, then this is not the one for you. It was more European, without the Arabic touches that suggest you're in Egypt. Other than that,... more

My friend, who is a Cairo local, booked the Semiramis Intercontinental hotel for my husband and me. So we were shocked when the bill came and they charged us $380/night + 25% tax ($475/night total). Apparently, the local Egyptians get a much better rate than "foreigners." Our room was on the 28th floor NOT facing the Nile. We had priority... more

This was the third and final hotel stay of a recent one-week tour of Giza, Luxor and Cairo. Like Le Meridien Pyramids in Giza, The Semiramis tacks on a whopping 25% tax on all booked rooms. And like most other hotels anywhere in the world, in-room internet access is a colossal rip-off -- $30 CAD PER DAY if I remember... more

This hotel has without a doubt the absolute WORST service I have ever experienced. I had heard such fantastic comments about it and was so excited to stay here. From the first hour we arrived, I was terribly disappointed. Our reservations--booked and confirmed multiple times in advance--were completely messed up. We were told no Nile views were available, despite the... more

Long story but this was the only hotel available for Sat Dec 29th. which was $340. i am a priority club member, and to my delight, we were treated like royalty, which was welcome at the near end of our tour of Egypt. Checked in on 18th floor and you are allowed to use the buffet, happy hour, snacks, etc... more

We stayed at this hotel for Christmas 2007. It was superb. Although it was an unconventional Christmas for us, the experience was amazing. We throughly enjoyed the pyramids and visiting the bazaar where we purchased local gifts and mingled with the lovely welcoming people. We ate in the hotel most days. The breakfast restaurant 'night and day' was excellent -everything... more

We have just returned from a week's holiday in in Egypt and only spent 1 night at this hotel as we were only staying overnight in Cairo. The hotel was fantastic, we had a lovely room overlooking the Nile, what a view. The room was clean and very comfortable. Food was amazing and wished we were staying longer, alot of... more

We just returned from a 2 week tour of Egypt. we stayed at this hotel for the last three nights and it was the best accomodation in Egypt. Actually it rates as one of the top hotels I've stayed at in the world. The rooms were clean, modern, quiet and outfitted with top of the line ammenities such as the... more

Great location interesting hotel nice but somewhat noisy room(although I can sleep through a lot of noise and it didn't bother me), generally the service was good but an incompetent Bell Captain started us off on the wrong foot and its impossible to get a manager to respond without going through more layers of bureaucracy than the Vatican. We had... more
