Stayed in Talisman, Cairo January 2008. Boutique hotels are best hotels in the world. What I liked about Talisman is it's quite central location, and "french-arabic style". Is located on Sharia Talaat (think so) st., with lots of cafes, shops, restaurants. Takes about 7 minutes in a taxi to get to the Islamic Cairo, 10 minutes to the Souk-bazaar, and... more

The Talisman is a very good hotel with an individual feel. Rooms were a decent size and well furnished. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little hidden away, up a sidestreet but it's worth looking it out. Overall a really nice hotel. more

We picked this hotel solely on the Lonely Planet "Authors Choice" review and we were not disappointed. Rooms are beautifully decorated in bright Arabian style. The hotel can be a bit difficult to find as there is no sign outside but if you head for the Hotel Minerva then it is in the same building (wonderful old wrought iron lift... more

My wife and I were very pleased with the fantastic experience of staying at the hotel, just downtown and a block away from very interesting features of Cairo. The service was impeccable; the employees very polite et quelques uns parlaient notre langue le Francais. Also we did appreciate the personable services of Travel Tour manager Hamdi El Shora both for... more

We booked three nights at this hotel through Lonely Planet, which gave it a 10 out of 10 and wrote that it never gave 10/10. We were excited and decided to splurge since it's a bit expensive for Cairo standards. The hotel rooms are nicely decorated and the hotel is in a good, central location though very difficult to find... more

The Talisman is a lovely place. The rooms are charming, the sheet are clean and soft and the decorations special. Of course, you're not in a standard 5 stars, so you'll probably get disappointed if you are looking for those kind of facilities. Instead, you are in an Egyptian boutique hotel, where you can spend the evening talking with the... more

Even though we had the correct addiress, it took the taxi driver almost half an hour to find the hotel, which is hidden in an alley off a very noisy commercial street. My adult son and I were traveling together and had requested two twin beds, both on the expedia booking and in a separate phone call to Expedia, which... more

The Talisman is overall an excellent hotel but it does have its quirks. However, if you know these quirks ahead of time and are OK with them, it can be quite an enjoyable stay. The hotel is right in the downtown area. Cab drivers will not know the hotel, so you will need them to take you nearby and then... more

An oasis of calm in a hectic city. Wel loved our stay at the Talisman. The hotel owners have taken great care to furnish the rooms beautifully. Every corner holds an exquisite piece of antique furniture, and the rooms are literally picture perfect. The service was excellent, and although lacking in the wide range of amenities you would find in... more

Extremely charming, richly decorated with warm colours and beautiful carved furniture. Our room was large, with airconditioning, a small refrigerator, TV. The bathroom had shower and bidet, and lots of spare towels. Also charming is the elevator (to look at only - I recommend the stairs!), it can be a little tempremental. Great location, and remarkably quiet considering how close... more
