The Talisman is overall an excellent hotel but it does have its quirks. However, if you know these quirks ahead of time and are OK with them, it can be quite an enjoyable stay. The hotel is right in the downtown area. Cab drivers will not know the hotel, so you will need them to take you nearby and then... more

An oasis of calm in a hectic city. Wel loved our stay at the Talisman. The hotel owners have taken great care to furnish the rooms beautifully. Every corner holds an exquisite piece of antique furniture, and the rooms are literally picture perfect. The service was excellent, and although lacking in the wide range of amenities you would find in... more

Extremely charming, richly decorated with warm colours and beautiful carved furniture. Our room was large, with airconditioning, a small refrigerator, TV. The bathroom had shower and bidet, and lots of spare towels. Also charming is the elevator (to look at only - I recommend the stairs!), it can be a little tempremental. Great location, and remarkably quiet considering how close... more

We recently stayed at the Talisman for three nights during the middle of the "Feast". This was a good time to stay there, as the streets were very crowded outside, even late at night when we first arrived, but it wasn't very loud in the hotel. The hotel is off Taalit Harb, just south of 26th July, two of the... more

My sister "Pat", brother "Jeff", and friend "Dana" arrived at the Talisman very tired after two days of traveling from San Franciso to Cairo. The Staff were very friendly and continued to be so throughout our stay. We loved our beautifully decorated rooms. The owner was very helpful and friendly..if your a Musical or Movie buff...he's all ears and enjoys... more

We stayed there for 3 nights. It was not bad. The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel as a whole was thoughtfully decorated. The breakfast was a bit of a let down though due to the poor service. There wasn't any staff in the dining room when we were there and had to scavenge around (other used tables)... more

I just returned from several weeks of touring in Egypt. The three nights I spent at Talisman were among the highlights of my trip. Talisman is a real find in Cairo. It's very hard to find very clean, attractive places to stay that are also affordable and reflective of local culture. Talisman hits the spot - flawlessly. To begin with,... more

Stayed at the Talisman for a few nights as we happened upon it by accident while hotel browsing in downtown cairo. Fell in love with the Arabesque decor and general style of the place. Loved the library and communal shared spaces, which facilitate both relaxation and informal business meetings . The rooms were comfortable clean and stylish. The suites look... more

When my sister and I booked the Talisman for our trip to Egypt, I have to admit that I had my doubts -- I'm normally a Four Seasons traveller! But the owner, Veronique, was very helpful and responsive to our questions on email, and when I finally arrived I was charmed. The Talisman is located in the upper floors of... more

Talisman is too dark, has small rooms, is old and has a miserly breakfast for 100 dollars a night. C'mon, only cold croissants, NESCAFE (!!!) and toast? I expect lovely poached eggs, spinach and tomatoes with crusty bread. Or Egyptian breakfast as an alternative. There were no free bottles of water. Even if you can get one for 1.75 Egyptian... more
