We stayed at the Norfolk Hotel on for two nights in January before leaving on a photo safari and during the day on our return to Nairobi. The room was fine, the service excellent, the property beautiful and the food delicious. There are still renovations underway, but we were out most of the day so we didn't notice the noise.... more
Our family stayed there twice - both times for one night. The hotel is going through a renovation which may account for what we encountered. (One of the dining rooms isn't operating.) The first time was fine - we were upgraded and our stay was very brief (less than 8 hours). The second stay was longer and was very unhappy.... more
Some 20 years ago we visited the Norfolk for drinks only. Finally the time had come to stay overnight. When we arrived we were shocked, the place is one big building site, I guess we were lucky as it was X-mas, no construction work was going on. The famous Delamere Terrace isn’t there at the moment. The Norfolk Hotel is being renovated through Mar 08. They try to conceal it, but there is still daily construction noise (pounding, power tools). This is a pricey hotel even with renovation going on. I became ill and had to stay an extra day; they charged me $485 for one night. more
Oh dear, where do I start ? we stayed twice during a recent safari and the rooms we got on the two stays were miles apart in quality- you couldnt believe the difference - the first room we got was pleasant and clean, nothing amazing considering the price they were charging but it was ok, but boy oh boy, the... more
I am a regular in Nairobi and for once I wanted to stay at the historical Norfolk Hotel even if the rate was a lot higher than other less famous places. The first time at the end of July I got an ok room and decided to book for a two-night stay with my husband a few days later. I... more
During our recent trip to Kenya we stayed twice in the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good. The downside was that the restaurants, bars and a number of the rooms are in the process of being rennovated. This means the eating and drinking options are very limited. We had been looking forward to... more
We stayed here for a couple of nights before flying home and really enjoyed it. The staff are very friendly, the grounds are loverly and our room was excellent. The hotel is really peaceful and it doesent feel like you are in the middle of Nairobi. It is well located if you want to take a walk into the centre... more
We stayed one night at the Norfolk before our Safari started and one night at the end before leaving Kenya. First of all the grounds and common areas are beautiful but they are in the middle of renovations and the main bar and two restaurants were shut down which was disapointing. The first room we stayed in was #2 right... more
