We stayed in 3 hotels during our China tour, and this was probably the best. Not great compared to our American expectations, but it was clean and the food was good. There were more Western options at the breakfast buffet than at our other two hotels. Beds are hard in China--get used to it! I asked for extra blankets to... more

I was booked into this hotel in September 07 for three nights as part of a tour of China with On The Go. Positives ·Good location – within walking distance of Tiannamen Square, the Forbidden City, and Heavenly Gate Temple ·Modern, clean facilities / rooms. ·Good breakfast buffet ·Good restaurant (don’t be put off by the appearance of one of... more

Stayed here for a few nights at the end of October and it was a pleasant surprise to find it had been refurbished to a good standard. I had a twin room, quite small, but sufficient. In the bathroom you have a small bath with shower over, and a selection of free toiletries like shampoo, cotton buds, and also slippers.... more

I also cringed when I read the reviews after being advised by our Tour organizers that we would be staying 4 nights at this hotel, however, I suggest that many things have changed since those reviews. The very opulent looking foyer was an exciting beginning to our 21 day tour of China, and we were not at all disappointed by... more

I approached my stay at The Rainbow hotel with some trepidation after reading the reviews and I am very happy to report that my experience was markedly different. The rooms were of a reasonably high standard with clean, fresh linen and a nicely turned out bathroom (different to the candid photos for sure). The staff were helpful and friendly and... more

as a lone traveller i booked this hotel online dispite reading mixed reviews.it has a grand marble and glass chadelliered reception ,polite and helpful staff who spoke enough english to cope with any requests or questions. The room was disapointing as the furniture and fittings looked a little tired and worn,it was however clean and for the traveller not wanting to... more

The only advice I can give to any one is to avoid this hotel at all costs. Beyond the opulent reception area the hotel is a disgrace. The bedroom we were given initially was filthy ,with mould growing on the tiles in the bathroom, cracked bowl on the toilet and generally in a very poor state of repair. The carpets... more

The Rainbow Hotel offers a truly forgettable experience and proves that we should never judge a book by its cover! The entrance hall is imposing and when we arrived after a long journey we expected the opulence to be reflected in the bedrooms - not so!! Damp, mouldy walls. Twin beds crammed in so tightly that you had to negotiate... more
