While a little hard to find tucked away in a back street, this hotel is a gem. The staff are great and special mention for Jennifer and Grace who provided good advice on travel and sightseeing. The location is not superb. This hotel is somewhat hard to find for taxi drivers, so be sure to have a printed copy of the map (available on the hotel's website) and have their phone number in case you have to call for directions. A taxi to Tienanmen square at night was about 14 RMB, so it's not a big... more

The people at Tianxiang Courtyard Hotel have to be amongst the most helpful, polite and cheerful that we have ever encountered after years of travelling overseas. They genuinely cant do enough for us from hailing taxis (and making sure the taxi drivers knows where hes going!) to offering to escort us to the market or making hot coffee when weve... more

We stayed 3 nights in the Tianxiang and very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel is built after the old Chinese style of architecture, with tile roofs and courtyards, etc. It was clean and quiet, tucked back into a narrow hutong (alley) in western Beijing. A small bedroom, but it had one of the softer beds we encountered in China.... more
