We stayed three nights at the Lhasa Hotel, and I couldn't wait to get out of the place -- it sort of overshadowed our trip to a place we thought would be the highlight of our month-long China/Tibet trip. We were with a tour group and stayed in Building #2. (I understand Building #1 has been renovated.) The carpets were... more

We stayed for five nights at Lhasa Hotel. We found it confortable and handy, maybe somewhat away from the action - but very conveniently linked to it by the endless stream of taxis and rickshaws. The hotel room was spacious and clean, the bathroom had 24 hrs hot water, and the staff was helpful once you had found one that... more

I stayed in the Lhasa Hotel twice in June. In the first stay, I was in the newest wing, which is numbered "1". The rooms were pretty nice and the bathroom was in good condition. I wondered where all those negative reviews, calling the hotel filthy and falling apart, came from. The room was pretty comfortable, but hardly a four-star... more

Maybe in the summer and if there's not another hotel to stay at. terrible, the hotel is the worst i have ever stayed at and it's supposed to be the nicest in tibet. that's a scary thought. I have a feeling there are nicer places to stay. The rooms heater did not work, the bathroom was falling apart. the staff... more

Although this is supposed to be one of the nicest hotels in Lhasa, it is not a good place in almost every respect. Tibet itself is beautiful and fascinating, but if you have the choice, do not book at the Lhasa Hotel. ROOMS: The rooms are spacious, but the one I stayed in was definitely dirty. For one thing, mold... more

I've just returned from a Viking Tour of China(10-01-06). This included the Lhasa Hotel. It was the most filty place I've every had to stayed in. We were at the "hotel" for 3 days and 3 nights, the longest continuous stay on the tour. There is a stench in the elevators that can only come from something dead in the... more

After staying at the Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu, Lhasa Hotel was a disappointment! Room carpets soiled, bathroom with black spots between tiles, food presentation mediocre among others. Definitely will not recommend to others who look for spic and span accommodations. The only amusing thing with this hotel is that carpet in the elevator that tells you what day it is,... more

Reading the reviews below I didn`t recognise the hotel I’ve just come back from. Overall the hotel was far better than the average American hotel costing twice the room rate. From the reviews read beforehand I thought we would be really roughing it. Absolutely not, the hotel was spacious and clean, the food was good particularly the Chinese Restaurant. The... more

This place is a comedy. It's amazing how accurate the other reviews are on this list so I don't want to duplicate. We actually came here after staying in Ger camps in Mongolia and missed them. We actually speak Mandarin, so communication shouldn't be an issue. 1) "I don't know when the restaurant opens in the hotel, I only work... more
