Stayed here a week in Sep 07. The security is high which is good, it's just too bad it has to be there to begin with. Food are okay, that's if you stay out of the Japanese Restaurant. I read the post by the guy who got the food poisoning there and I thought well that wont happen to me.... more

I had a recent 5-day stay at the Gran Melia in Jakarta that started well but went horribly awry. The location, although not near any major malls, is very convenient to the toll road, which is a big plus considering Jakarta traffic. The first surprise you may get when you arrive at the hotel is the amount of security there are in place - security guards, bomb scanning, guard dogs, metal detector; but if you are genuine traveller, I suppose this will make you feel really secured and safe staying in this hotel!
