The hotel has not been maintained since its conversion a couple of decades ago. We were surprised to find it opposite a number of clip joints and "buddy" bars which were noisy late into the night. Breakfast was very poor. There are much better hotels in Singapore. more

Booked this hotel on line as special treat for my wedding anniversary in the midst of a vacation in SE Asia, predominately in budget accomodation. We were not impressed! Initially were given a room with broken AC. When we asked to move, we were placed in a smaller room that was newly refurbished, but as it turned out not finished... more

We stayed at the Beyjaya Hotel for 4 nights in the weeks before christmas. We had a queen room overlooking the main road. That said we were not disturbed by any noise from the street despite the prolific bars and clubs in the area. The MTR is just around the corner and there is a great hawker center where you... more

great location (if you don't mind the bars nearby), very friendly staff, charming colonial decor. i stayed here as a very pregnant, very grumpy person -- and even i couldn't find anything to complain about. if you know pregnant ladies, that's saying something! more

I was booked here by a company I was visiting because I said I would like to stay in Chinatown for a change. What a mistake. The hotel was so crummy that I had to try three rooms before one was found in which enough things worked to make it habitable. The place is dingy, rundown, dirty, and threadbare. If... more

I was very pleased with my 2 night stay at this charming and elegant hotel that oozed colonial glamour. The staff were exceptionally accommodating and helpful. We arrived very early at 9am and expected to be allowed to leave our bags there and check in later - what a pleasant surprise to be told we could check in straight away,... more

I needed a bed in Singapore for one night and this was one of the few hotels with a spare room. Pros: In the centre of Chinatown and very well located for all the gay bars and the nightlife. The room was clean and the wireless internet (not advertised on the hotel website) was a bonus and relatively cheap. The... more

I stayed in this hotel last December 2006. The staff members were quite helpful. They lent me a big hotel umbrella everytime I went out since it was rainy during the time I stayed in Singapore. Yes, the hotel did smell a bit musty. Like a grandparent's place. The furnishings did have some chipped parts or worn parts. But it... more

I have nothing but praise for this charming little hotel. The decor harks back to a bygone age, right down to the odd push-button radios in the rooms. After getting there through Singapore's oppressive humidity, this is a delightful experience. The chains could not compare with it. The rooms are comfortable if a little dated. The showers are powerful, and... more

Stayed at this lovely small hotel in October 2006. After staying in several hotels in the region, the Duxton stood out for its friendly service and attention to detail. A good fairly central location and lots of charm. I would definately recommend it. more
