We stayed at Hangout Mount Emily on our way out to Australia in February and then on our return in May. We were a little anxious as we had not stayed in a hostel before. We should not have worried The staff were very helpful, it was clean and in a quiet area but easily accessible. The rooms were great... more

Don't know why some of the reviews for the Hangout are negative. I stayed for 2 nights at the start of May '08 and really enjoyed my stay. Paid Singapore $94 (£35) per night for a single room. All the staff were friendly, there was excellent air conditioning in my room (thankfully as the heat outside was unbearable!). I liked... more

This place was a lot worse than the reviews made us think. It is basically like a run-down university halls, full of 18 year old students-types no doubt on their first holiday away from home. It makes for a pretty cheap atmosphere throughout the hotel, which is (as another reviewer pointed out) painted in inanely bright 'wacky' colours. Our room... more

I find this place is overpriced, and they tell you "no" with a smile. My first experience was about the internet. They claim you get "free internet". But there is no internet in the rooms. You have to use one of the six stations in the 2nd floor, often all taken, or you can use a wi-fi with your laptop,... more

Hangout is a great hotel and I would strongly recommend that you stay here. It is very clean, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the facilities were the best that I have come across so far on my travels. The only thing that I would say is that it is quite difficult to locate- especially at night as... more

This place stinks. First of all, its a fortune for what you get (although recognizing that Singapore accomodations are just expensive). As a couple we booked a room with a double bed. . .When we arrived they gave us a small room crowded with 3 single beds saying that it was an upgrade (!?!). When we told them that it... more

Hangout@ Mt Emily is a mix between a great hostel (if somewhat pricey) and a simple boutique style hotel. Simple in that fact that you dont get a hairdryer or wardrobe in your room, but great hostel in the fact that there is free internet, breakfast is included, plus there are washing machines on site for you to use. The... more

Located in a serene residential area (5 min. uphill walk from Little India MRT station), Hangout offers a clean, hip and no-frill accommodation option for travelers. The hotel has a wide range of room choices (twin, triple, quad, quin) for travelers with different budgets. I had a twin room to myself. The room is rather small and the facilities are... more

After a disappointing experience at another small hotel, we decided to try Hangout @, and I'm so glad we did! Despite having made the internet booking only moments before from an internet cafe, the staff at Hangout honoured the lower internet booking price, and when we changed to larger more comfortable room the following day (that room was not available... more

Stayed in the Hangout @ Mt Emily for 3 nights, 4 weeks ago and I found the rooms to be modern and basic, all I needed really. Great value! Free internet, tea and coffee facilities and laundary. Only thing, the hotels location is a bit away from the public transport. There is a restaurant, Wild Rocket attached to the hotel... more
