Has seen better days, but safe, clean and friendly staff. Location is excellent for day time activities. If you are looking for nightlife I suggest you stay around Bella Vista. But over all good value for your money more

We stayed in the Espana for four nights. We found the staff to be very friendly and they spoke good English. The free breakfast was very good and filling. When we had to wait for a late night flight, they only charged us for half a day. There are two computers for free high speed internet. The rooms were large... more

My parents and I (a 26 yr old female) stayed at Hotel Espana in April 2007. We reserved our triple room despite having read mostly negative reviews of the hotel on Trip Advisor, unable to pass up the great deal, but hoping for the best. The hotel’s public spaces (foyer, breakfast room, bathroom, internet room) were basic and slightly run... more

Our room was pretty shabby, the breakfast was piece of cheese and piece of cake..the whole place is just plain tired. BUT we had service from the reception staff that was far better than... more

The rooms are nothing fancy, however the service is amazing!! It was my first time leaving the US and they welcomed me with open arms (and I do not know spanish). They speak English very well and do their jobs with gusto. If we needed a cab they ask what time we wanted it and one would be there at... more

This hotel was recommended in the Lonely Planet book we own. It is housed in a former mansion that must have been lovely in its day. However, at present, it is shabby with stained carpets, missing tiles on the bathroom wall, exposed plumbing in the bathroom and a front desk staff that is indifferent . We arrived and were given... more

Hotel Espana is in the center of Santiago, very convenient to the Plaza de Armas, Cathedral, preColombian museum, etc. Our room was clean, but suffered from too much red brocade, gilt trim, dangling crystals on the lights and mirrors. However, it was a reasonable size and had a very adequate bathroom. Squeaky wood floors and a squeaky bathroom door provided... more
