My wife and I stayed here about 3 years ago both before and on the way home from our trip to the Galapagos. Its just an amazing place with great people, great food, and a ton of character. I am only now writing this review bc a colleague of mine is booking his galapagos trip and i was trying in... more

We stayed at this hotel for two nights prior to visiting the Galapagos. On the positive side, this hotel has a lot of character. This restaurant was good, the staff was helpful and the library/fireplace area was a nice place to spend time. We could walk to several good restaurants, as well as a tienda and a telephone cabina (for... more

I have stayed at Cafe Cultura 4 times because I travel with a group and don't make the arrangements myself and I have yet to be satified with any room. They are all quirky and there is always something that is misplaced or something that doesn't work, like the lights or the shower. Last time the roof leaked water onto... more

The women who work there are outstanding! I went several nights during a climbing trip. I found it convenient to the main tourist areas and the food excellent. A very special place. more

Beautiful facility, with friendly, courteous staff. Each room is uniquely hand decorated. There is a lovely sitting room with a fireplace and library. The hotel is very secure and the staff was very helpful with taxis, restaurants, etc. The food was expensive but delicious. Expensive for a hotel in Ecuador, but a great experience for the money. more

We stayed here twice -- once on arrival in Quito on our way to the Galapagos and then on our way back. It's a lovely, conveniently located building and both our rooms were comfortable, beautifully decorated and really unusual -- on our first stay we were in the room with the tree growing through it and later we stayed in... more

Arrived late at night the staff was very helpful in getting us to our room . However, our room itself was disappointing. We couldn't stand up straight in parts of the room due to the sloping roof. The bathroom was just ridiculus. There was an old cast iron tub with a handheld showerhead. There was no curtain and the spray... more

Cafe Cultura is conveniently located, and is a really friendly and warm place. The fireplaces are great, and the staff went out of their way to be helpful in arranging taxis, calling restaurants for us, etc. They also serve a great breakfast. Most other hotels that charge comparable rates however include perks like free internet and free breakfasts, but Cafe... more

Our room was pretty, the Mariscal neighborhood location excellent. The hotel has lovely murals on the walls, nice details such as tropical flowers in the rooms. Hot water not completely reliable in the afternoons due to low water pressure. Taking a bath would have been impossible due to giant, rectangular bath tub. The cafe is cute and has reasonable food,... more

We went to this hotel as it got a good write up in some travel guides. We arrived to find that we had a poor room which had limited head space. The cost of the room was quoted as $89 but on leaving the staff tried to increase it by 12%. Generally in South America you start getting cable television... more
