We spent 2 nights at the Dome. I requested the Dome myself, and I suppose that if I didn't, we would get a "normal" cottage. Living in the Dome gave us this Tarzan and Jane feeling, as it is a king of a tree-house. It was really nice, even if you could see the outside world through the crack in... more

We arrived to Bellavista during an unplanned trip, we left Quito and took the old Quito-Nono road, and followed the "Ecoruta el Quinde", we got to Bellavista following their signs from Tandayapa(6 Km), we had breakfast as we were on our way to Mindo, it is an amazing location, the staff welcomed us inmediatly after we parked our car (VW... more

I greatly enjoyed my recent visit to BellaVista Cloud Forest. Right from the first contact, when Driver Mr Luna picked me up at exactly 8am from my hotel, it was a great experience. He was an excellent spokesperson for Bellavista, giving me an overview of Bellavista and praising it justly. The lodge itself is delightful and I found the service... more

We spent one night here after the Galapagos and were happy with our experience at Bellavista. Only 2-hours from Quito, the beautiful setting and access to nature was great after polluted Quito. We saw many birds including toucans and hummingbirds and did a couple of hikes each day. The fixed menu food was good. The staff was kind, but the... more

Bellavista is a bit on the expensive side ($139/person for 2 days, 1 night, including transportation) but in my opinion it was well worth the cost. The rooms were a bit rustic-ours was built out of bamboo and there were quite a few bugs that made it through the cracks. The linens were also a bit damp due to the... more

We stayed at the 'Bellavista Cloudforest' from 10th to 16th December 2007. We are low-budget travelers (a biologist PhD student and a landscape developer) and indeed we were very happy to be allowed to stay at the 'research station'. Otherwise we could not have afford it to stay there. Therefore we are very grateful to Richard to have made this... more

My girlfriend and I spent 4 days, 3 nights at the Bellavista Cloud Forest Lodge. What a great place. At first it seemed a little pricey (we chose the package trip) but considering you get transportation to and from Quito, 3 big meals each day, expert guides and a nice room, it is good deal. The food was delicious, with... more

We were happy to have done a two day, one night package at the Cloud Forest. The staff and guides were very personable and nice and spoke wonderful English. Though it was the holiday season, the facility was not crowded and we were able to stay in the famous Dome above the dining hall. The room and view were lovely.... more

My friend and I stayed at Bellavista last month.-Nov 2007 The staff was confused, incompetent and downright rude; they even laughed at me in front of our dining group. They fawned over a large departing Scandanavian group waiting for tips....while we were not given our room in the Dome for 4 HOURS!! The guide, Gabriel and the volunteer, Faye were... more

It is tough as owner to read reviews like this. Apologies are in order for having had to wait too long for the room, and efforts will be made to avoid this in future. The lodge is medium-priced, and the price reflects the cost of maintaining / protecting our 700 hectare forest reserve. The lodge does not suffer from mildew,...

While visiting Ecuador, I found that I would not have time to visit the Amazon as I might have liked. With less time, I researched alternatives and Bellavista seemed like a good choice to experience rainforest within a few hours drive of Quito. For a few days stay, it was an excellent choice. I arranged for a transfer from the... more
