My boyfriend and I recently traveled through Ecuador and used Hotel San Francisco de Quito as our base in Quito. We were a bit nervous about the safety in the Old Town, but booked anyway. It turned out to be a fantastic hotel - everything you need and nice rooms for a very reasonable price. We were delighted and felt... more

We stayed in this Hotel for 4 not consecutive nights. We found this hotel very central first of all. The hotel itself has a kind of colonial style, with an internal courtyard, with some little souvenir shops and their own restaurant, used by us for the breakfast included in the price (very basic). Very polite staff, even if don't provide... more

Right in the heart of the Centro Historico: all of the churches, plazas etc. are within a couple of blocks, and we loved that. We had the "honeymoon suite" on the top floor in the back, so we didn't have the problems with noise that others have complained about. It's more homey than fancy, but if you want to spend... more

Stayed two nights by myself. Great value, nice staff, very safe and good location. As previous posters mentioned, the noise can be an issue. Loose room doors and echoes everywhere. Bring ear plugs and you’ll be all set. more

We had an awful two nights here before we moved to another hotel. Like many hotels in South America, this is a secure complex. To get in, you need press the buzzer & Reception staff will unlock the door. The rooms are in a square shape on three levels, all around a central open-air courtyard. This is pretty, but very... more

After reading reviews from trip advisor. we booked this hotel for the first few days of our vacation to Ecuador. It is located about 20 minutes (depending on traffic) by taxi from the airport and the fair was approximately $6. It is located in the old section of town and is in a really old building with courtyard. The hotel... more

The hotel is beautiful - an old convent, the staff were courteous, and the location excellent. I think the only thing tripadvisor readers should keep in mind is that perhaps because of all this - combined with great affordability - it is a backpacker haven. In and of itself, I actually see this as an upside (as I consider myself... more

Just back from a working trip to Quito, and can safely say that Hotel San Francisco de Quito will be my 1st choice on my next trip out there. Apart from offering the best price, it's friendly staff, perfect location and tranquil couryard (where there is WiFi access for those who need to work) make it a real old town... more

My husband and I just returned from Quito and the Galapagos Islands. While we found the hotel more than met our expectations for location, value, friendly and helpful staff, we were also thrilled with the travel service on the lower floor of the hotel. If you have plans to visit the Otavalo Market, Galapagos Islands or any other destinations in... more
