This was the best hotel we stayed in on a tour around Peru. Wonderful atmospheric setting, warm & engaging service and delightful food. We stayed for two days before and two days after visiting Machu Picchu and they let the account run through, looked after our bags and replaced them straight into our second room (You can only take one... more

Myself, my sister and my Mum stayed here on two occasions in the same holiday! As part of our action-packed Peru adventure, we stayed at the Monasterio for three nights whilst exploring Cusco, and once for one night en route to the Amazon basin. This hotel is fabulous, the atmosphere is incredible, and the original stone building sets the perfect... more

My husband and I arrived in Cusco from Lima after a long journey. Following one email from the hotel, we were picked up from the Cusco airport. We asked our driver if he could bring us to the train station to pick up our tickets for the Hiram Bingham train to Machu Piccu. This was no problem at all, and... more

We stayed here twice, for a total of 5 days. The hotel looks wonderful ,with it's ancient cloisters and it's very convenient for the main part of lovely Cusco. BUT-----------------our first visit of 3 days was completely spoilt by a persistent loud noise day and night. It sounded like a shutter scraping, then banging. The hotel promised to investigate, but... more

This was our second stay in the Monasterio, and again it was a fabulous time. The hotel itself is like staying in a museum. The staff are courteous, helpful and the attention to detail throughout is outstanding. Yes, it can be expensive, the extra charges for internet for instance, does seem inappropriate when you consider the prices of the rooms... more

If your planning on staying in the City of the Incas then the Hotel Monesterio is a great base. It is located in a quaint square just above the main centre of the fascinating city of Cusco, so your not far from all the sites . You can hang out at the local bar with some of the locals for... more

What a disappointment. We are one month into a two month trip through Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Cuba, Venezuela an Barbados, so we have a lot of direct hotel comparisons. We were staying for two nights as part of a trip to Machu picchu using the Hiram Bingham train to & from Cusco. Some of our bags were sent on... more

I think that everyone should spend at least one night in this hotel. It is one of the more unique hotels in the world. Yes the rooms are on the small side, but remember this was a cell for monks, what do you expect? The room was very nice with a comfortable bed and beautiful bathroom. The food was very... more
