We thought the Hostel El Balcon was the best hotel we stayed at. I emailed the property directly from their website and recieved a special internet rate of $45 a night! The room was nice and clean and upon request they will provide you with a hairdryer and a space heater. The water was hot and consistant. Bathroom was clean... more

My husband, 7-year-old son and I stayed at this hotel for three nights in June 2006 and thought it was a great value. It was recommended by friends of ours in Lima, who lived in Florence for many years and who travel frequently. What impressed me most about El Balcon was the attentiveness of the staff. My son got sick... more

We had a great experience at El Balcon. The staff were friendly and helpful and many spoke English. They were there waiting for us at the airport as we had arranged. Since we arrived around 6:30am, they offered us breakfast and allowed us to check in to our room early (no charge, also arranged prior to arrival). Their rooms were... more

I loved this hotel. It is seriously casual, and the people are great. The rooms are stone/stucco with eucalyptus beams. They all open into a courtyard filled with plants and flowers. There is a small dining room where they serve breakfast and tea and will make lunch and dinner for you if you ask. It is a great place to... more

Wonderful, hidden place in Cusco. I would definitely go back. In September 2006, it cost me about US$35 per night, with breakfast included. The hotel is a few minutes walk or quick taxi ride away from the main square. The rooms, like the hotel, are basic but picturesque, very peaceful. Breakfast is excellent, and they will make you other things... more

Hostal El Balcon offers a great location in Cusco -- close to the plaza but quiet, with a great atmosphere. After booking a room, I accidentally provided the wrong day for our flight information. This caused some confusion, particularly because my emails kept being returned with an error message. It would have been helpful if the Hostal had replied, especially... more

I'll come back again... That's all I can say. This place will always be in my heart, my house in Cuzco. I really had a great time (I had to change my flight tickets twice!!!) Everybody is so friendly and I loved the rustic atmosphere. Rooms are clean and I had never experienced such service before during my trip in... more

El Balcon is a gem for the price. We were referred by an adventure travel group that uses them regularly, and it was a great recommendation. The rooms are small but charming and very clean, with rustic furniture and lots of wool blankets on the beds. Hot water was pretty reliable. Space heaters are provided; we were there in December,... more

We paid $48 USD per night and enjoyed our stay. We stayed on the 2nd floor in room 2 which did not have a window except in the bathroom, but you could open panels on your front door. The view from the balcony is great, you can see rooftops and the Plaza de Armas. We stayed one additional night in... more

This hotel promised us a queen-size bed and an extra twin bed but instead gave us three twin beds. The room was somewhat noisy from people in the alley. more
