During daytime you"d think you are in a country fair, crowded, noisy but after the buses leave all is quiet ,dinner is great,.Though it belongs to Orient Express food (breakfast, lunch tea and dinner )is much better than on the Hiram Bingham train.I loved the view of the montains, the small room is no problem as you spend most time in the garden and... more

We spent one night in late June at the Sanctuary Lodge, and it was worth every penny. Like most folks, we thought twice about spending $700+ for a room, but we have no regrets. Location, service and unlimited food/beverage made this once in a lifetime indulgence worthwhile. While staying up at Machu Picchu doesn't allow you to get into the... more

This hotel is not to be missed when visiting Machu Picchu. It's location is, to say the least, an advantage. Besides being able to wander around the ruins well after the crowds have all left for the last train to Cuzco, and being at the ruins the minute they open (6am) to watch the sun hit the Inca sundial, the... more

We traveled here after the Hiram Bingham train journey which was fabulous. We had a private guide which was much better as there was only the two of us so we would recommend people take that option. The staff and hotel were fantastic and very friendly. Just what would be expected of a hotel in this chain. It was my... more

Booked a mountain view room through Amex Platinum travel. Was able to occupy room after our arrival at the Lodge at 1PM from the Hiram Bingham train. All food, drink -plus massags for 2 were included in our package. We also got a 4PM checkout the following day( checkout is 9am). Our HB train package included a 3 hr tour of... more

We stayed at the Sanctuary Lodge earlier this week and would say it is worth every penny!!! Yes it is expensive but it's all about location, location, location. We had just completed the 4 day Inca Trail Hike ending at Machu Picchu and I can't tell you how good it was to be able to walk straight out of the... more

Yes this is a very expensive hotel, but it is probably one of the best you will find in Peru! The staff we excellent and made us feel special from the moment we arrived and that any request would not be too much trouble. The hotel is not flash but very comfortable in the best location you could ask for... more

We were lucky enough to get a reservation at the Lodge after being waitlisted. Unfortunately, this probably meant that the people who booked before us were bumped up to the better rooms. We had a standard room which was fairly small as expected and it did have an unexpected view of the Huanyna Picchu peak. There was, however, a big... more

We stayed at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge as part of a tour we booked through Abercrombie and Kent. Despite the higher cost, the location of this hotel was one of the primary reasons we chose this particular tour. And as many other reviewers have noted, it's proximity to MP makes it well worth the money!! The lodge itself is... more

My mother and I stayed at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge earlier this month. The lodge itself is not extravagant but the location couldn't be better, just steps away from the entrance to Machu Picchu. Our room was ordinary, but had all of the high end amenities that you can expect from an Orient Express property. There are only 29... more
