I think the thing that I liked the most about this resort was that it was the most ''non- Four Seasons'' Four Seasons resort I have ever stayed in ... and I mean this in the most complimentary way that it can be expressed ... Many times in an effort to meet the typical 4S client's expectations of a 4S,... more

Having had to endure 10 days of the brutish unfriendliness and lack of professionalism of 5 star hotels in Argentina, we were enthralled with the smiling professionalism of the staff at this resort. The bungalow we had was very well maintained, spacious and very quiet. Excellent and discreet service. The privacy and decor was reminiscent of some places we've experienced... more

What a place!! My husband and I stayed for 5 days after sightseeing in buenos Aires. It was such a tranquil, relaxing atmosphere in a forest/camp-like setting but with all the luxuries of a beautiful hotel. Athough not a traditional room set-up, the bi-level suite was like a mini cottage with an oversized bathroom and open-concept layout. The tennis courts... more

absolut amazing hotel .it is a neo thai deco, mixed with mountains and forest accents. service is very poor, same is the food, also very expensive. if you take the boat from buenos aires you must expect for a 2 hours drive from colonia to carmelo. when you arrive you stay at the southernmost point of uruguay near to argentina on... more

This is, in my opinion, one of the finest hotels in the Americas - a calm, stunning oasis on the banks of the Rio de la Plata about 3 hrs from Montevideo. My bungalow was huge and luxurious, situated in a dense forest a short stroll from the riverbank. This is an excellent place to simply relax - I spent... more

This place was amazing. My husband and I were here for two nights with our two teenage children. Our room was beautiful, the service was impeccable, the food was excellent, but I could see if you stayed longer, that the limited choice of restaurants might start to bother you. I had read complaints about too many children here. Actually, my... more

We are Four Seasons regulars ( all over the world and 30+ days/year). I have to say that this is one of their prettiest properties in terms of decor and the bathrooms were extremely luxurious is a very earthy way - very high wood-beamed ceilings, outdoor showers in a private jasmine garden. The spa was beautiful as well. We had... more

We spent four days at this property in March 2008. The setting is lovely, and the pools (indoor and out) are wonderful and uncrowded. The room (bi-level suite) was very nice, but a little worn, and the shower and sink did not drain properly. Little things, but the types of things that are not expected of a Four Seasons resort... more

We originally booked to stay here (4 nights) the last week of March 08. We ended up staying only two nights. We are huge Four Seasons fans. This resort has all the the amenities and service you come to expect with a Four Seasons property. The negatives were that their appeared to be an abundance of children on site. This... more

We stayed at the Four Seasons Carmelo for 6 days having read the outstanding reviews on this site, as well as the Gold rating from Conde Naste Travellor. Before arrival we used the help of the hotel staff extensively to hire a car to bring us from Montevideo, book lunch in Colonia on the way and arrange our onwards travel... more
