Hotel with a breath-taking view! If you want to get away from it all, this is the hotel to stay at. It is very colonial, and picturesque, with a beautiful view of the lake. I love the bathroom with its mosaic tiles on the wall. and the overall scenery around this hotel. You can sit in one of the cabanas,... more

We have stayed at the Meliá many times, and it seems like we have been extremely lucky! The only negative I have is the so-so food and service from the restaurant. We know people in Colón, so we can eat there, and get our laundry done cheaply as well. We have enjoyed great, attentive service at the main bar, even... more

Before you book at the Melia, check into their reservation policy. I tried on two different occasions to book rooms only to discover that they will not allow a family of 4 with children older than 12 to stay in one room. I tried the second time because I was just so certain the reservationist was wrong. Well, nope. The... more

I really loved this hotel! What made it so good for me? The pool, plenty sun (at that time) and not too much people around. I really didn't care about my room as i only slept there as little as possible. The rooms were ok. Maybe people staying there longer, and in a rainy period, will have different opinions. My... more

We just returned from a week at the Melia. We were staying at this hotel because my in-laws own a time share and traded for this property for the week. The natural location is beautiful - surrounded by the rainforest and Gatun Lake - but that does not make up for the tired furnishings, slow and indifferent service, and isolation... more

I stayed in this hotel for a week. Unfortunately it was raining most of the time. A taxi from are to the airport costs between 50 – 60 usd and it takes at least 90 minutes. The hotel is surrounded by a nice garden in which you find a large swimming pool.. It is on the borders of the Gatun... more

We stayed here because of a time share agreement. The hotel is not four or five star. Three star at best. The rooms could use some more light, new bed linen and drapes.Basically the hotel needs some work. The first room was musky with dusty drapes. We moved after one night to a better room. The staff was very friendly... more

Along with 3 colleagues, I stayed at this hotel for three weeks for business. Service short-comings were rampant throughout the hotel: 1) The restaurant staff provided horribly slow service each and every night we ate there (12 times total). 2) On one occasion, a waiter spilled a bottle of beer while serving us with a bulk of the beer landing... more

We stayed there for 1 day only. At first, they didn't find the reservation we made by internet even after they told us that internet reservations had priority and will always have room for them. Then, we decided to go to the pool were the staff didn't treat us so nicely. They couldn't speak english and their manners were very... more

We really enjoyed our week's vacation at the Melia-Colon. The staff was great. The pool is large and you NEVER have a problem getting a beach chair like you do in Mexico. Infact a lot of the people staying at the Melia are business people so there were some days we (4 of us) had the pool and pool staff... more
