Our travels took us to Hiroshima, Japan in the early July of 2008... We wanted to stay at WFC which we've booked prior to our departure from Canada. Upon our late arrival to Hiroshima, Kent and Sarah were waiting for us. We were exhausted from climbing Mount Fuji the same day and Kent ensured we get a good rest. It... more

if you go to hiroshima, you need to stay here. Kent and Sarah, the two volunteers, were fantastic! they were so helpful and accomodating for our group of 14 people. the breakfast they prepared was great and they have a wealth of information. included in the price was a guided tour of the peace memorial park and museum and a... more

This was one of the hidden treasurers of our trip to Japan! We spent 2 nights there in mid-May and were extremely impressed with the hospitality. Kent and Sarah, the 2 volunteers, were just lovely and so helpful! For example, Kent guided us in a pouring rain our first day to the Peace Park for an interview with a survivor.... more

Kent and Sarah (the volunteers running the WFC until May, 2009) are welcoming, and went to great lengths to make us feel at home. Kent gave excellent tourist information. Breakfasts are large, with cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, toast, juice, coffee or tea. There are several small restaurants within easy walking distance from the WFC, serving tasty Japanese meals from friendly... more

Our family stayed at the WFC in November 2007. I emailed the reservation via their website and everything went perfect. Be sure to download the directions. Follow them without interpretation. The Center has Internet access, great food, clean room and beds. What more can you ask for? I would recommend the WFC as a place to stay to anyone. more

This cozy ryokan is hosted by Sarah and Kent who serve a great breakfast. But even better than the fresh fruit and homemade granola is the fact that the breakfast room is so small. This makes for friendly conversations and encourages sharing travel tips and making plans for the day. If you don't mind sharing a bathroom and can carry... more

The World Friendship Center is a great place to stay if you are visiting Hiroshima. The WFC is a little far from Hiroshima station, so beware if you have a lot of luggage. You'll need to take a street car plus walk about 10 minutes to get there. The WFC is within walking distance of the Peace Park. The neighborhood... more

LOCATION Many people arriving here will catch the tram from the train station, it is only about 15 minutes trip, then a short walk. The actual location is in walking distance to the Peace Park and Memorials. If you have about ½ hour you can walk to the city centre and it is quite nice. Be sure to eat some... more

I won't go into what the last reviewer said about the background of the World Friendship Centre. I also stayed with Don & Pauline, whose 2 year stint as volunteer hosts will soon be up. They really made my visit memorable for me, as I'm sure all the hosts do for their guests. This is a really comfortable special place.... more

I found the Friendship Center by chance on the internet and thought it would be nice to try somewhere different. The place is a non profit organisation (run by an American church who promote pacficism and the abolition of nuclear weapons) and I liked the fact that my money would be used for a worthy cause. There's only room for... more
