Ok, not newly built (surely not), nor has won any decoration prize (god, no!), so those looking for luxurious and contemporary Japanese design will hit big deception. This said, the ANA does not charge rocket price (12.000 weekdays and 14.000 weekends for 2 in a standard room) but is not a bargain either, it is somewhere in between. It may... more

Just returned from our 3D/2N anniversary stay at the ANA Kyoto. KT & I are both Platinum Elite Members Good points- *very good phone reservation agent who offered us an upgrade to a Castle View room from a standard room due to our status - she made sure to secure our Non smoking King room request noted on our reservation... more

The Hotel is just in front of the Nijo Castle. It's beautiful but very quiet. However, There is a metro just outside and the hotel offer free shuttles every 15 mins between the main Kyoto station and the hotel. The busy part of town is about 30 mins walk or only 2 stops with metro. We were welcome by an... more

The ANA was our second choice for our six-night stay in Kyoto - the Granvia was fully booked - and we chose it because of the hotel shuttle bus service. We had Japan rail passes, so Kyoto station was only 15 or 20 minutes away. The shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes, so it was easy to head into the... more

There is actually nothing to complain, but not much more to thank either than the staff, which were always very polite, and shuttle bus to Kyoto station. Ana hotel is quite far from any other sights than fantastic Nijo castle. For temple sightseeing the hotel located in eastern parts of the city would match better. But yes, there is subway... more

We booked a deluxe king non-smoking room, which turned out to very roomy, even by western standards. It was clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed. Very professional staff. Prior to arrival, we inquired from overseas by email about assistance in purchasing tickets for a Miyako Odori performance, which could only be purchased locally. They acquired the tickets... more

From the reviews, we decided to give it a try. We got an excellent rate on expedia. Stayed three nights while in Kyoto March 2008. Pros - great corner room overlooking the temple - VERY roomy - very clean and keep clean during our stay - bed very comfortable - great dinner buffet - free shuttle to and from the... more

We stayed here for 3 nights in March. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it, contrary to the previous review. I agree that the decor is somewhat dated but our room was very comfortable, and quite large by Japanese standards, as well as being kept spotlessly clean throughout. There is a large waterfall water feature in the hotel... more

After reviewing the largenumber of different hotels in the Kyoto area, my girlfriend and I decided with the ANA Hotel Kyoto for it's central location to the sites we wanted to see. We later found out that there is a free shuttle for the 10 minute right from the Kyoto Train Station and that there is also a subway stop... more

We, a group of 3 travellers, stayed at the hotel in March 2008 and were not impressed at all with its overall performance. Charging the price of a 5 star establishment, the hotel simply doesn't live up to these standards. The whole hotel seems worn and dated, from the stained carpets within rooms to a post-communist decor in its lobby... more
