My wife and I stayed here a couple of times when we lived in Japan 19 years ago. We took our three children back when we visited Kyoto this summer. It was just as reliable and comfortable as ever. The Three Sisters is a nice place to stay-- very clean and the owners are very helpful. No Japanese baths, there... more

Looking at the notes I took after checking out of The Three Sisters Inn Annex, I am amazed to see that there is not one negative item on the list. The place is in a great location, right next to Heian Shrine, a little set back from the road, within 50m of two bus stops (for Nijo castle and Kinkakuji-temple... more

I can't say enough great things about my recent stay...the annex run by Kay is where my sister and I stayed for 9 nights. The room was wonderfully Japanese and very clean. Each day the room was cleaned and fresh linens put on the futons. The location was very convient and the staff was very helpful. When we were hungry... more

Walk into the outer gate off the sidewalk and you feel like stepping into a world of a different era. The small garden leading to the main sliding door inn entrance gives you a hint of what awaits you inside. This is not a place to stay for everyone. It took us a couple of hours to get used to... more

We had a terrific stay at the Three Sister's Inn Annex. It is a 12 room ryokan perfectly located off the property of Heian Jingu Temple. It is a bit dated but to me that means homey comfort. Kay and the staff are very helpful with answers to all of our questions. In the dining room, where we enjoyed a... more

I had a really wonderful stay in this Ryokan in the summer of 1967, while in the military and on a trip to Kyoto, with an army buddy. We stayed two days, which was the highlight of a two week tour of Japan. We toured in a small honda sports car and had an adventure of a lifetime. I will... more

Three sister annex is not the most stylish of hotels, but it is clean and tidy. What it lacks in style, it more than makes up for in the warm and friendly welcome you receive and the helpful staff that make you feel at home. We enjoyed our stay here very much. more

I have just returned from my second stay at this perfect ryokan for English-speaking visitors to Kyoto. It was a treat to experience the futons, tatami-mat floors, and small Japanese garden out our window. As was my experience 8 years ago, I found this ryokan clean, affordable, and (best of all) the staff was wonderfully helpful. Kay, the owner (and... more

We stayed 4 nights in September. Nice typical Japanese ryokan owned and runned by three sisters (for 30 years). Good location, but still 15-20min walk from Gion and 5 min walk from bus stop. Decoration is dated, bathroom very small, room is clean and large with confortable futon and japanese paper panel doors. Included breakfast is poor (just 2 toasts... more
