We (family of 3; 6yr old) spent 5 nights here in April. It wasn't our first choice and we weren't sure about the location but in fact we loved the place and the location in a well-heeled district near the Imperial Palace grew on us over time. We often stopped off at an earlier metro station and walked back through... more

Based on Trip Advisor reviews we booked this hotel for a two night stay in Kyoto. The hotel itself is great. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful, and speak very good English. The room had two full size beds, a couch, and free internet. We got room service dinner the night we arrived and it was excellent. Breakfast wasn't included... more

Colorful, quiet, efficient, modern, a fine example of Japanese hospitality. The property is a taxi ride from anywhere in town, as the neighborhood is not interesting, but for all that, it's an elegant choice in Kyoto. more

We just spent 3 nights at the Brighton in Kyoto. The rooms are very large by Japanese standards, but it is as if you've stepped back into the 80's. It needs some serious remodeling to bring it into the 21st century. We were so shocked at the decor, both in the lobby and in the rooms, that we actually considered... more

The hotel was a little hard to find but the wait was worth it. The rooms were beauifully decorated and the bed had lovely crisp sheets. It was spacious and airy. The staff were so polite and friendly and they spoke english. They had free internet access on 2 computers but there was no time limit so beware other travellers... more

I arrived from Fukuoka on the Shinkansen to be welcomed at Kyoto station by an attendant who directed me to a taxi, which delivered me to the Brighton. Arriving at the Brighton Hotel is a (pleasant) sociological experience in itself. Before you are out of the taxi, there is a young bell man (or more likely a young bell woman... more

I was booked at the Kyoto Brighton through a travel agent. It was one of two hotels at which I stayed on a two-city-base tour (the other being Tokyo). Like the Tokyo hotel, the Brighton was quite expensive. Unlike the Tokyo hotel, the Brighton was truly worth the expense. The lobby was huge. My room was large. The whole room... more

I stayed at the Brighton for a week while looking around the temples and shrines of Kyoto. I was initially very nervous as my Japanese is very poor. After an eventful trip from Tokyo airport (via bullet train) I was really worried the hotel would be a severe culture shock. However the staff were very welcoming (like most Japanese people)... more
