Just came back from staying four nights at this ryokan. Even though its far out in the suburbs its very easy to get to via bus. You take it right outside of the train station and it drops you off a couple of blocks away. I won't bore you with the usual "we loved it and it reminded me of... more

My mother and I went to Japan in 2006, and stayed for five nights at the Ryokan Yamazaki. We had chosen the inn due to its location in the northwestern area of Kyoto, in a residential area and away from the city. Try to get into one of the five rooms with a private bathroom (10000Yen, or about $95 at... more

My boyfriend and I picked Ryokan Kamazaki for our "ryokan experience", based on the reviews here and the ryokan's exceptionally cheap price, and we were not disappointed. We spent most of our Kyoto holiday in a hostel near Kyoto Station, and spent our last two nights in this ryokan. I would recommend this approach because then you have already explored... more

My husband and stayed here for two nights and loved it. The room was beautiful and rather large for the price and for being in Japan. We had a room on the second floor and I highly recommend you book the same. The view of the gardens was just stunning. There was a washer and dryer available too if you... more

We stayed here for 2 nights in July. We arrived by taxi, and were greeted with hot towels and orange juice and smiles all around. Our room was a nice size, tatami mats and private bathroom. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The restaurant on the first floor has a stunning japanese garden beside it. I had the japanese breakfast... more

i was looking for an originaly Japanese exp for my stay in Kyoto and did not hesitate booking Yamazaki after reading all the reviews and the reasonable price. But after finding out you can book a cheaper and closer hotel on JR Tours.. I was slightly moved in cancelling my stay. I decided to try it out and it was... more

My husband and I stayed one night at Ryokan Yamazaki on July 7. We picked Ryokan Yamazaki based on the glowing reviews here, but unfortunately our experience was sorely disappointing. We emailed the Ryokan and specifically asked for a nice view, thinking that we would get one of the rooms with garden, but we were wrong to assume. What we... more

I booked my stay easily through the Japanese Inn Group: [--] When I found out Ryokan Yamazaki was about a 35 minute bus ride from Kyoto station, I almost cancelled. However, when I read the glowing reviews from previous guests here at tripadvisor.com and had another look at the pictures of the gardens and rooms at the Ryokan Yamazaki website,... more

My brother and I stayed at Ryokan Yamazaki for 4 days at the height of cherry blossom season (late March in 2007) and loved every minute of it. We were in the annex, which is about a 2-min walk from the main building; it's also off the main road, and backs up to a mountain, with a small creek running... more

This Ryokan has lovely gardens, a nice main building and some very nice looking rooms but unfortunately we got put in the last room they rent out which was very neglected, didn't feel very clean and wasn't a welcoming room to stay in. The owners are very nice and had we been given a better room I would have given... more
