We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and had a good experience. The rooms were fairly big. We had two small children traveling with us and the hallway and bedroom area were pretty well divided, so we could move around without waking them up. There are no ice machines on the floors, and room service charged us $6 for a small bucket of ice. Need I say more? The other reviews have described it pretty well. Unless you're attending a wedding or convention (kyoto convention center located next door), the Grand Prince Kyoto is an out-of-the-way hotel option that offers 'pauper-like' services and amenities at 'prince-ly' prices. (sorry for the pun). Near the very last subway stop (30 minutes from Kyoto station), the Grand Prince is situated in a scenic wooded area - hence the appeal... more

We stayed at the Takaragaike Prince Hotel (also known as the Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto, ---) for one week. The rooms are very large by Japanese standards.
