The Gojo Guest House is a traditional "Japanese style" lodge that offers a good deal for the money. This was our second visit to Gojo Guest House, we were there 3 years ago. We loved everything about it, it's an old traditional Japanese building, the rooms are tatami with futons on the floor. It was clean and quiet, there are 3 showers with dividers and doors, and, new addition, locks were installed on the doors of each room... more

Ok so this place isn't a palace but it struck me as good value and certainly added to my visit to Kyoto. The staff were very friendly as were most of the people staying there.
