Ryokan Shimuzu Inn is not recommened in our opinion. We are Yanks, and stayed in Kyoto in May 2008 at two places over 4 days. We go to the Kyoto area every couple of years. What a lovely place. Very beautiful Ryokan right near Kyoto station. Hard to find if you rely on the map from tourist information however once we did find it, it was worth the effort. Ideal location - just a 5-10 minute walk from the train station. Beautiful traditional room with friendly staff. Complete with exquisite Japanese breakfast. Highly recommended. more

This ryokan is in a good location, walkable to the train station as well as the metro. We had a clean room with tatami mats and a nice bathroom. They have a laptop in the lobby where you can check e-mail etc for a reasonable price. The staff were friendly, they even called and made lunch reservations for us. more

This was a great little find in the alleys of Kyoto. Great people, excellent service as found in Japan, clean and cosy room! Location was fine, only a 10min walk to Kyoto station.
