The hilltop citadel of Ankara is a fascinating mixture of decrepit and renovated buildings with a Roman and Byzantine history. Angora House is one of the renovated Ottoman houses in the area and provides a delightful location for a stay in Ankara. The nearby antiquities museum is a must, as it has a magnificent collection of objects from all over... more
Angora House is the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to Turkey. The location in the Citadel within easy walking distance to the great Anthropology Museum was perfect. Ankara needs more than one night & Angora House definitely needs two nights. This warm & inviting Ottoman style house is large & has rooms to match. The dining room where we had breakfast is just delightful & charming with relics, carpets & style everywhere you look. You can hear to 'call to prayer' but its not deafening. The room... more
We arrived into Ankara at 11pm and needed a place for the night. Since this was our honeymoon, I did careful researching for our hotels and angora house turned up as the only place worth staying. The fixtures in the spotless bathroom were as nice as any five-star hotel. The hotel is a short walk to Ankara’s top attraction—the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. Our walk around the Citidel gave us a flavor of how the... more
We stayed one night at the Angora House so that we could take our time exploring the Museum, the Citadel, and the Anitkabir. What a great decision--the Angora House was a lovely place to stay. It's inside the old walls of the citadel area and is a lovingly restored Ottoman era home turned into a hotel. There are only 6... more
